Uh, bro, that's what you do when any aircraft is flying in a sovereign airspace without asking for permission first.
It's a pretty nice safety method to prevent bad things from happening.

Russia's 24-hour in-the-air policy has been going on since the Cold War, hasn't it? It might just be rote tradition by this point.

anyway to OP: I think if we have had past issues like the threat of a nuclear attack or whatever I think being a little concerned is justified
