Reineke laid in good rest
And watched the game of the tired;
Then footsteps reached his ear,
He listened, he jumped up...
"Is it you, Grimbart?" he called out;
"Welcome, friend, in Malpertaus!
You certainly come from the court -
Say what is new, best one?"
Grimbart began: "From evil things
I must report to you."
TN: This is a poem, using idioms and words in a more artistic arrangement to make each line rhyme. This is translated to convey the context of the poem. A word-to-word translation would lose the the context.
For example, the last line of the poem literally translates to "I must bring you newspaper."; which is not supposed to be taken literally.
