mi-go
The Mi-Go are a race of aliens from the Cthulhu_Mythos. While they resemble insects, they are actually a type of fungus.
Mi-Go have eight limbs: four grasping arms, two walking legs, and two wings which may be either membranous or insectoid. They possess a head that consists of an exposed brain studded with several short antennae.
Mi-Go can usually fly unaided through interstellar and intergalactic space, due to their wings being able to interact with aether, an evolution they share with the Byakhee. However, Mi-Go lack the "hune" that allows byakhee to fly faster-than-light. There are subspeciese of Mi-Go who cannot fly in space, and require either surgical modification (which the Mi-Go perform so deftly that it scarcely compares with even the efforts of our most able doctors), or in rare cases, a ship.
Mi-Go are intensely photophobic, due to getting little more than starlight on their aeon-long interstellar trips.
They are enemies of Hastur.
