Character: boots (animal crossing)

Boots (ホウサク Housaku) is a jock alligator villager from the Animal Crossing series, appearing in every game up until Doubutsu no Mori e+, then remaining absent until Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. His name comes from the footwear, as boots can be made from alligator hide.

Boots is a green alligator with a white jawline, light green spots, and lighter-hued nostrils. Except for when his eyes are shut, Boots's eyes are always staring up in a joyful manner. From Welcome amiibo onwards, however, Boots's eyes are normalized, while his original eyes replace his delighted expression, although he is still looking upwards.

According to his e-Reader card bio, Boots is secretly obsessed with gardening, which is further supported by the furniture in his Welcome amiibo RV and his preference for a natural theme in Pocket Camp.

Although not popular in his original Japanese origin, Boots's offbeat expressions and jock personality make him extremely popular to western gamers. Nintendo of America localizer Bill Trinen has also cited Boots as one of his most memorable villagers.
