dorsal crest
A dorsal crest is a tuft or protuberance that runs down the middle of the back and sometimes onto the tail, following the spine. A dorsal crest may be composed of fur, scales, spines, feathers, etc. African civets and iguanas have prominent dorsal crests. For some animals, such as African civets and anoles, the dorsal crest may be raised or lowered - known as erectile dorsal crest. If the dorsal crest is lowered and not visible, do not tag it.
