• The term "pegging" is one of the few tags that are very gender-specific.
• Do not tag for other gender combinations including intersex. Any other combination of genders should be tagged as strapon_sex / feeldoe_sex instead.
• It must involve either a strapon or a feeldoe used in a similar manner as a strap-on. Other types of sex toys inserted should use the following tags instead:

• Type of object: dildo_in_ass (feeldoe) / sex_toy_in_ass (strapon) / object_in_ass (improvised_sex_toy)
• Penetrated gender: male_penetrated Tag format: <gender>_penetrated
• Method of penetration: toying_partner / strapon_sex / feeldoe_sex

If pegging has not yet occurred, use imminent_pegging instead, or imminent_strapon_sex / imminent_feeldoe_sex if it involves other gender combinations.

The name was coined in a poll by sexologist Dan Savage in 2001, and the word itself allegedly comes from 'peg boy', referring to the (historically questionnable) habit of boy prostitutes to sit on pegs between clients to maintain a certain gape.

The reason for specifically restricting this to male/female only is because one of the main appeals of this is how it's an inversion of straight sex, both in regards to "natural capabilities" (the penetrating partner doesn't have a penis and the receiving partner doesn't have a vagina) as well as in regards to expected gender roles (the woman/feminine partner is penetrating the man/masculine partner). The former disqualifies herm and maleherm characters as well as female/female pairings and ovipositors, while the latter disqualifies andromorph and gynomorph characters as well.
