Tag ambiguous_species when not enough of a character is visible to identify their species. This tag can still be combined with generic species tags like mammal, scalie, avian, and marine.
Reasons
Non-focal character:
Obstructions:
- clothing that obscures the body and/or head
- full-body costume
- fully armored
- mask, especially for headshot and bust portraits
- thick or baggy clothing
- environmental conditions
- partially obscured by other elements of the scene
Perspective:
- extreme close-up
- first person perspective from a character's face within the post
- too far away from the viewer
Style:
- anon - a type of generic placeholder character
- blurred or distorted body
- silhouette - a simplified outline of a character with solid coloring and little if any inner details
Do no confuse with:
- offscreen_character - do not tag the species of characters outside the field of view at all
- unknown_species - tag this instead if you do not recognize a character's species despite seeing their identifying features
