@Kemonophonic: yep, it was running perfectly fine until I tried to start it up this morning.
It doesn't look like it'll be too expensive to replace a starter, although coincidentally it costs as much as the new dot sight I was eyeballing.
Oh well, I just got a promotion so I can afford it.
