@Pink_Hat: I’m not exactly the best at this, but I can think of some things to get it running. Try spinning the disc by hand while it’s still in the system and close it? Play the disc while the system is upside down? It was starting, so it’s probably not a pcb issue. Could be a PSU issue or an optical drive thing, but yea, I hope things will work for the system.

@vex714: I already tried spinning the disc manually. It worked the first time, but then that stopped working too. And I did try some different angles, but that only makes the image fucky in different ways. I've pretty much tried everything short of heat-blasting it. I think I'll just take it to the repair shop down the street and ask if he can look the traces over sometime, whenever I can be bothered to take the whole thing apart yet again. It's not too complex to take apart, but it's still a bit of a hassle when you have to keep doing it
