Why does my drinking water keep getting warmer than room temperature but the shower water keeps getting colder than room temperature?
That depends-
You drink from the sink straight from tap?

Nope for two reasons:
1. Tap water isn't drinkable right away (I boil it first in an electric kettle),
2. My "apartment" doesn't have a sink, but there is a tap in the bathroom where I get water from.
I do notice, though, that the water from both the shower and the tap gets pretty warm during the day. According to the landlady it's because the sun heats up the water lines. Tapping into solar power as one might say.
