Youtube is putting ads on videos which aren't monetised for quite a while now

Yeah I get the same. YouTube gets to put ads on any video on their platform and only need to pay you if you're in the YPP.
Another thing they just started doing recently is running your videos as ads on other videos (this will show up as "YouTube Advertising" in your analytics), and again, if you're not in the YPP you won't have the option to disable this.
To be fair I see it as a good thing, if YouTube is doing both of these things on your videos it may be because the algorithm sees some kind of potential in them. But maybe that's just me being an optimist. lol
