I'm not sure I've ever heard of someone living in Britain prefer "zee", outside of maybe american ex-pats. although, I guess I don't often hear people spelling words, so...

I think the only times I've heard a brit (or canadian, or ausie, or kiwi, etc.) use "zee" is with proper nouns (like, if any english speaker said "Dragon Ball Zed" people'd look at them weird, regardless). and, to some extent, the same happens in the other direction as well, with some yanks still using "zed" when it's someon's name or something.
