Topic: Five Nights At Freddy's series alias

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

An implication would be better; I've seen instances in the forums/comments where people blacklist certain games (the later ones) from the series because the animatronics from them are more nightmareish than the previous ones.

the first game's tag is working as the copyright tag for the entire franchise

the only flaw is that you can't blacklist only the first game without blacklisting the entire franchise.

What I'm getting from this is that the _(series) tag is necessary, yes?

Nope. All of the subsequent games are aliased to the original five_nights_at_freddy's, so you only need to blacklist the first game to hit 'em all at once.

If you only wanted to blacklist one (or more) of the sequels respectively, make sure to not have five_night_at_freddy's on yer list.

Sharp Coyote, what if you want to blacklist the first game but not all of the games? Say, hypothetically, you really like the design direction of 3 and 4, but not of 1 or 2. Without the (series) tag, it is obnoxious to try to manage that.

Indeed. I am not saying I am against the _(series) suffix, as it would be easy to amend my blacklist with it. I had mentioned how to block all images from FNAF as the system stands now.

Why anybody would wish to do what you mention above is beyond me, yet it would be a simple addition as suggested by Knotty, just as the suffix was added in the case of sonic_(series).

Just Another Dragon said that the flaw in the system is that you cannot blacklist the first game without blacklisting the series.

Knotty Curls responded, saying that that makes the (series) tag necessary.

You respond, seeming to disagree, talking about being able to blacklist the entire series already (when the discussion was about the ability to blacklist only the first game).

I try to clarify that point, again, bringing up the possibility of blacklisting only the first game.

And now you say you recognize that the (series) tag would do exactly what everyone else was saying it would be useful for all along?

Am I confused here, or are you? Because it's one of us.

I just mean that it will be a pain for whoever admin that gets to clear all the implications and aliases of the tag five_nights_at_freddy's since you'll need to clear it's implications on all other tags in order to make this function.

An alternative mean would be creating a new tag to work for the first game, it could be five_nights_at_freddy's_1 the only problem it will break the current standards since the correct would be making the _(series) one and make the right implications again, and it sounds weird in general too.

Not sure which of the two solutions would be best, it just seems that it wasn't planned enough at the time, i guess people only thought it would be a singular game?
