Does anyone know what happened to OhMuu's Growlithe/Shinx comics? I can't find them anywhere.

I can't find their other art here either. What happened?

because reasons .

Oh. That's sad that people were editing and posting their art without their permission. I can understand why they were taken down even though I'm not too happy to hear that they're gone. The comics were part of the reason why I joined here and I currently don't have a FA account.

I guess that means I have to make one in order to look at the comics now.

-_- and then theres this

reasons...right. from journal:

"Here's a list cause why not?
- I never gave consent for posting my works in the start.
- Edits/Tracings have been made on my artworks and were posted there.
- I can't monitor comments very well there.
- Even when people noticed my works there not many would go to the source and stick to there.
- Many will ONLY view my works from there and ignore everywhere else my galleries are.
- Because many people only stick to that site I still don't have much potential business.
- Comments of complaining and bashing when I had to explain things they didn't understand.
- Constant messages there about when the next page is up even though it's been already posted on the main gallery and or I have a schedule for things.
- I'm just done with that site man. The stress built up so bad I can't anymore."

Sounds like mostly reasonable arguments to me. I disagree with some of them, but some are valid, and she has every right to take down her art for any reason. And honestly I sort of feel it's pretty dumb how many people have been ragging on her about the decision.

Well half those reasons the site actually punishes people for (edits, creepy comments, bad sourcing) and it seems quite common that most people discovered her FROM e6.

Her call and all, just a lot of misinformation as well, as per usual with new DNP entries =/

- I never gave consent for posting my works in the start.

Valid

- Edits/Tracings have been made on my artworks and were posted there.

Kinda valid. This site already removes artwork like that. Could've just told them to takedown the edits/tracings.

- I can't monitor comments very well there.

Invalid. This is why we have admins on here. They do that for you. As long as they aren't insulting/threatening/harassing the artist, I believe we can comment whatever we want on the posts.

- Even when people noticed my works there not many would go to the source and stick to there.

Invalid. This is an unrealistic expectation. Not everyone on here has an FA account and/or not everyone on here likes FA. So they rely on e621 to see posts.

- Many will ONLY view my works from there and ignore everywhere else my galleries are.

Invalid. Kinda hard to make a statement like this with nothing to back it up with.

- Because many people only stick to that site I still don't have much potential business.

Invalid. Now you have even less business since you are preventing exposure. Mission accomplished?

- Comments of complaining and bashing when I had to explain things they didn't understand.

Invalid. Welcome to reality. People complain about shit all the time.

- Constant messages there about when the next page is up even though it's been already posted on the main gallery and or I have a schedule for things.

Invalid. When you make a comic, people want to know when the next pages are gonna be out. You have to assume that people are generally stupid and make it really easy for them to access your content. Most of the time, people will stick to one site for the updates, whether it be the source or other sites.

- I'm just done with that site man. The stress built up so bad I can't anymore."

The stress that you have put on yourself.

'Tis a shame

I don't understand why you people (and it's almost always the same people) get so upset whenever an artist pulls their work off the site.

This gives you two options. Either: follow the artist somewhere else, or forget about them.

Neither one really affects you that much, does it?

Largely because sometimes when stuff is pulled from the site, it is based on bad information or on thoughts that the e6 staff are not actively on artist's side, which the mostly are. (barring stuff like the artist not getting the point of TWYS).

Art is everywhere of course, but some of us like the site enough that seeing it lose art due to misinformation is annoying

Pretty much this.

well that was an unfortunate event... I am now a little disappointed at... things

I'm glad I read through "Catch me if you can" and "Her Name" like... Yesterday actually... before they were taken down... Always sucks when an artist has a take down request...

Oh well, if taking the art down makes him happy, that's his thing. My only problem with it is that it helped promote his art (Having it on this website). Why couldn't he just ask for a takedown of derivative works instead?

The fact that he thinks his art here is hurting his business is beyond me. People search for their usual tags and stumble upon it. He was always tagged and it always had links to the sources and his FA. People also would add him to their tag subscriptions, and I'm sure a lot of his watchers are from this site. The people who didn't check the source and don't follow him probably weren't very interested to begin with, just like people on FA who stumble upon a picture and then move on. It just doesn't make sense to me.

"The fact that he thinks his art here is hurting his business is beyond me." this and the whole disliking TWYS are 2 things i don't get whenever theres a takedown. though, in the case of TWYS it sometimes boils down to the artist in question wanting his/her pics tagged with what you know rather than TWYS (sorry artist(s), but this site don't work like that).

likewise with any music we share in the music thread. sharing like that amounts to little more than free advertising.

There are valid reasons to dislike TWYS. One is how it interacts with transgender characters. Gender is a contentious issue, and it is genuinely offensive to call someone a male when they are trying to identify as a female, or vice versa, but that is a seemingly inescapable part of the TWYS policy.

Treos, you say to artists "sorry, but this site doesn't work like that", but let me ask you: what is the appropriate thing to do when you disagree with how a site works? The appropriate thing to do, it seems to me, is to not use that site. So I think that disagreeing with TWYS (especially concerning transgender characters) is another entirely valid reason to ask to be put on the DNP list.

Jumping in here!
Looking into this more I was pretty much misinformed about half of the things I was able to do here. This is true. I'm actually sorry about not knowing these before hand. I've just been thinking for so long and just said eff it I think this will help me.

I was wondering what to do at all about this. I'm not really sure if I can even take it all back. But after all this I'm not sure if I want to.

The amount of notes and messages about telling me of why my reasons were invalid. Telling me I do not have a right to my artworks because it's "free". Yea I get it's "free" to you only because people commissioned me and paid for it. But eh. It just dishearten me real bad after this. I was already dishearten when my stuff was being posted here and the stuff I listed happened.

Yea with the barrage of messages I've gotten I do get this site does get me seen, but I wasn't really too big on the idea of getting seen. I just enjoyed drawing for people who actually enjoy my work and get some money for it. That's cool. Plus I already knew since the beginning of this year I cannot make a living off commissions anyway. I'm just not fast enough and too much things happened that I just can't keep up anymore. So it really didn't matter if it was either hurting me or helping me in getting more people.

In the end not sure what to do but I don't think I will bring my works back here. Not after what happened. Just leaving this info out here.

You can request a takedown to be reversed if you change your mind.

If you don't want to bring the pages back, don't. But don't whine and blame it on others when you lose overall exposure/customers, as it was entirely your fault.

You made a lot of false claims about the userbase (which are quoted above) and you imply we're in the wrong; people are just correcting you on what you said. You're taking this far too personally.

It's worth mentioning that, to my understanding, the DNP list is fairly flexible. For instance, if you wanted, you could say "I feel like only I should be able to post my art here", and then, you would be on the Conditional_DNP list instead of the full DNP list. And then you'd have control over what is and is not posted, which would resolve that sticking point, at least.

Yeah, how about not attacking artists.

Misinformation or no, the choice is Ohmuu's. Just like changing opinions or not is also up to Ohmuu.

Also, as Clawdragons said, the staff are actually quite good at working with artist's for conditional DNP stuff. You could say just no commissions allowed, or no comics, or only you are allowed to post it here, or whatever. The staff want to help artists feel comfortable here

Hm, I see if it leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth I will see on changing the reason of here and else where.

In the end of all this I don't want my artworks being posted here then.

No, Ohmuu stated on their Journal that they like to read all comments on their submission to better understand their audience, this has nothing to do with moderation.
Our site is literal shit if you want to watch out for new comments on anything, if you aren't the uploader you have literally no chance to do so automated, you either manually visit and re-read everything, or you need to remember the number of comments for each and every submission.

Waba_Grill said:

"Invalid" only because you don't like it. There is nothing invalid about an artist wanting to have their content viewed in a specific setting or with added specific information. If you read their journal and comments closely one point was that nobody copied the description from FA to e621, so the viewers lost out on interesting or enlightening information.
And this loss of information is very much a valid reason to be unhappy with us.

Waba_Grill said:

You said yourself one paragraph above that you don't go to FA because you dislike it. You are literally living proof that OhMuu's point is valid.

This mindset is why artists on FA view us as assholes and ask for DNP status.
Congratulations.

The stress that you have put on yourself.

Some people want to make their fans happy and get overwhelmed if it's too far spread out or too much work to keep up with everything, you can't blame people for burnout.

Nothing in my post said that I didn't have an FA or didn't like it. I'm speaking out for the others that don't. You are literally living proof that reading comprehension is essential.

Nope, proves that some artists on FA are soft as jelly. You can't please everyone.

Jk, I luv u

No, I simply try not to be douches to the source of the site's creators of content in general. Nor do I pretend being a general douche in general helps things.

I am sorry if this is shocking to you two lol

First off, to OhMuu. I'm sorry that you felt our site resulted in the decision to remove your art. I thank you for the time you did give us and, hopefully in the future, we look forward to seeing more of your art.

Secondly, I have a hard time thinking any of you think it's okay to demean anyone else, artist or not, for their actions. I encourage you to look up the rule for Harassment in the Code of Conduct. It is not tolerated.

For anyone else posting in this thread, any derogatory comments... to anyone... will received a permanent negative record at minimum.

Lastly, thank you to those who spoke up for the artist in a constructive and non-harassing way.

I can't quite say I learned anything new after reading through this entire forum, just reviewing information I already know.

I have a deviantart and furaffinity account, and yet I spend most of my time on e621. I've drawn and uploaded art onto both deviantart and furaffinity, but not onto e621 because it's irrelevant to the site.

When it is relevant (which is when I start drawing living things), then I'll have the pleasure of uploading my work here and deviantart and furaffinity and anywhere else I can think of that I can manage and access with relative ease.

I'm getting there, but I'm still not there yet.
