Topic: Could we do something about pool help page

Posted under General

So pools are only meant for image series and comics. Yet the pool help page states that pools are meant for images with common theme. This is extremely vague and misleading.
It can easily lead users think that you can make own pool for pictures of renamon with hyper titties and a pool for pictures of furries with rainbow hair just because they have common themes.

So maybe its time to update the pool help page a bit?

+1 on changing the pool help page.

My suggestion as a experienced(?) editor/writer:

"Pools are used for posts which are connected to each other like chains, and each post on the pool has a connection to the second one, like pages of a comic."

public pools can be updated by anyone, even anonymous users.

Yeah that definitely needs an update, badly.

That pool page was written before sets were added, and I doubt it's been updated since then. Since the help pages are hardcoded it's kind of a pain in the ass to update them (most admins don't even have access to it).

That being said, I'm planning on depreciating those help pages soon and moving everything to the wiki, which is much easier to keep up-to-date.

I would use "series" or similar, instead of "chains", either way use "a chain" instead of "chains". It's a long shot, but two unrelated comics are two chains of posts, but they don't belong in the same pool. I'd also change ", and each" to "where each", you are not really listing two different criteria.

Sorry if I sound overly critical.

Personally wouldn't mind another sentence/paragraph or two explaining use cases and maybe even what not to use them for, just need to keep it short and structured to facilitate reading, maybe even some angry red color.

The help page would probably not hurt from having some headings as well.
