Couple of years ago I used table_lotus_position as a temporary placeholder tag while sorting the sex positions.

But then it kind of caught on while I was busy with the other stuff.

The problem is, most of the images tagged as table_lotus_position aren't actually table lotus. It's more of a generic tag for any 'tabletop' sex position (one participant standing, the other lying on their back on a surface). There's quite a few different variants mixed in, such as the butterfly position and the right angle.

So how about we rename it to something that's better suited? Table_sex_position, or maybe just table_position? ...tabletop_position?

On_furniture?

Wouldn't work at all.

Sex positions should be standardized under *_position, on_furniture would be easily confused with things like sitting instead of a specific position, and table_lotus_position doesn't require furniture. Just some kind of flat surface, such as bales of hay or car hoods.

You've stated yourself that the tag
a) was not intended as a formal position tag in the first place
b) currently encompasses multiple different positions

This tells me the tag should be renamed to the ACTUAL FEATURE that it ended up being used for, a feature which does not have a tag and needed one badly, hence why everyone shoved it into this in the first place: people having sex while laying on furniture other than a bed.

No. I stated that it's not only used for table lotus. Therefore b is correct but a isn't. It's used for all sex position variations where one character is standing and the receiving partner is lying on their back, at waist-level.

Table lotus position is one such variant, but not all table sex is table lotus. Therefore, the current name is a bit too specific.

It has nothing to do with furniture. Just like how cowgirl_position rarely involves actual cowgirls.

Which isn't how it's used. It's tagged just as much for beds as for anything else.
Again, check the wiki. The description is pretty clear.

The wiki's not the only relevant thing. Especially if people are clearly tagging in opposition to the wiki.
