Aliasing sloppy_sideways → spooning
Link to alias

Reason:

It looks like this was done earlier already, but it'd be nice to have this alias exist just in case one who uses the sloppy sideways tag was uninformed like I was.

Oh my god...you have no idea what sloppy sideways is, do you? I can tell you that sloppy sideways is NOT just a spooning position. Many people use it for anal penetrative sex.

Seems fine to me, though the main tag should probably be spoon_position instead of spooning.

The wiki entry needs to be sorted out, looks like someone messed with it a couple of weeks ago. It's a sex position tag, shouldn't be used for generic cuddling -- and it's certainly not restricted to male/female.

I don't know if that's going to be the best answer, to be honest. Spoon_position was aliased to --> spooning a really long time ago so it hasn't been the main tag in awhile. But making spoon_position the main tag for the sex position might be a good plan since that's more consistent with the other *_position tags for sex positions. Since the *_position syntax makes it only for the sex position, and sloppy_sideways is only for the sex position, I could see aliasing those two tags together and have it work extremely well. Usage between those two shouldn't have any problems.

However, spooning as a word is widely defined and used for whenever there are two people laying on their sides, pressed up against each other, back-to-front - regardless if they're clothed and including when no sex is involved. Some people even consider spooning to be like hand-holding: as a more innocent and earlier relationship benchmark during dating that comes before actually having sex with someone. The term "spooning" is commonly used for situations like: after sex cuddling, pre-sexual foreplay and making out, just sleeping together and even occasionally with very close platonic friends. These are all linguistically allowed and accepted uses for "spooning" as long as the two people are in that exact physical configuration when doing those activities. The term is for the body configuration regardless of activity. And while it definitely has an intimate connotation, it does not have a sex-only one. In fact, the nonsexual usage seems to be far more widespread than using "spooning" to mean sex in that position.

So trying to restrict the tag spooning to only be used for the sex position wouldn't work. Doing that would only cause mistags and confusion because it's a nonstandard narrowing of the definition of "spooning".

We might be able to implicate the nonsexual spooning tag with the sexual spoon_position, but I think aliasing them together is a no-go.

Nor male specifically behind female.

Overly specific gendering on the wiki should be a bannable offense. :(

My advice? Alias sloppy_sideways to sloppy_sideways_position. Sloppy sideways should only be meant as a sex position, not as a spooning position too. That's how it gets the name.

But those are currently aliased. I suppose they could be unaliased, and then spoon_position could be tagged for the sex position and spooning for non-explicit cuddling.

Though the problem with that position is that it's often hard to tell if there's penetration or not. Just see spoon_position rating:questionable... In that position, it's difficult to see if there's penetration or not. Especially when both characters are nude.

I'm denying this one since the tag has been empty all this time.

I've also deleted the spoon_position -> spooning alias and instead implied it to spooning/sex. I briefly went through rating:e and found ~100 to fill up the tag, but there's definitely more in there if anyone wants to finish it off.
