Topic: Am I uploading wrong, or did something change?

Posted under General

Usually I just use the image address as the source but when I try to use it now it says 'file not found, try uploading again.'
Also there is an image preview, so it appears to be working, just not when I upload the image. Did something get changed or is there something different that I should be aware of?

I believe it's a security measure regarding the IP address of this website being apparent when one uses that feature.

For the time being, just save the image as you upload it. That's what I've been told to do and that's what other users have been doing. It's just an extra step.

Hmm I see... I hope they're working on fixing this issue as I'm sure this is quite a hassle for some users (especially since it's no longer convenient)

How long has this been a problem?

It's been disabled for about a week and a half now. We've got a bunch of changes lined up for the next update and that will be part of it (I don't have an official date but I'm shooting for the weekend if all goes well).

Let's just say not only will you be able to upload via URL again, but uploading in general will be improved :)

Tony, please tell me you guys are finally gonna disable the Enter button in the tags field of the upload page, at least in the sense that it should just skip to the next line (like it does with sources and descriptions) instead of acting like a second "Upload" button. Please? :O

That behavior is fine when you're just editing some tags on an existing post and want to quickly confirm and move on, but when you are creating a new one and usually will be typing out lots of tags, it's very annoying to constantly be wary you don't accidentally hit Enter and upload an incomplete post.

Another easy fix would be to add in a "you sure?" confirmation question.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has trouble with that.

In the meantime I'd recommend using eSix Extend since it has an option to disable enter (and change it to shift+enter, IIRC).

No.

But it was an extremely simple fix so I did it.

So yes :)

I have the feeling that that's your favorite reaction image :p

It is. It's humorous, invigorating, and useful to give praise where praise is due.

I actually seriously considered making it my new avatar for this year, but I'm not parting with my present avatar.

Uhm, are you sure? It's still behaving the same for me. Awww, and I was just about to scream "THANKIES!!", too. :(

Or did you actually mean it will be part of the aforementioned update? I mean, that would be fine of course.

For some reason I've never bothered with scripts, but this sounds like it'll hold me over for the time being. Will give it a shot, thanks!

It's as if avatars eventually represent who which user is.

"Oh, that one image of 9/11, hello Munkelzahn."
"Oh, the image of "stop taking the internet so seriously", hello NotMeNotYou."
"Oh, that pink leopard, hello tiamat5."
Etc.

I recognize you by that image of that sergal unbirthing action as well, without even looking at your name first (checking afterwards of course still).

Right now I got this Ren Queenston fan art of Renard - I Love My Internet Friends as my avatar, and I think I'll keep it (because a more awesome one is from a DNP artist) for as long as I'm on e621.
