Topic: My Valentine's Day

Posted under Off Topic

So my friend couldn't go out with his girlfriend because she was out of town. He decided to invite me and another friend to go to a trampoline park.

I have never been to one so I was pretty excited.

Literally 3 minutes into jumping around I jumped to high and completely broke my right leg. I'm headed for surgery in a couple days but for now I'm stuck in this huge ass cast.

Any of you guys break any bones? Any interesting stories?

i broke my spine couple years ago in a horse riding accident.
we were practicing with ground poles. horses are supposed to just step over them without any bigger fuss. the horse i rode did so on the first round but for some reason on second round he jumped over the poles. i wasnt prepared at all so i fell and broke three vertebrae.

trampolines are a lot more dangerous than you might think. i still remember my cousin breaking her...arm, i believe? when she was little and playing on one with me and my sister.

i think i'm lucky to have never broken anything before. except maybe a tooth or a few at different times (better keep that trap shut and stay away from cool air if you ever chip one. it'll hurt otherwise. ;)) but that's different and those things are now long gone. :P

Worst I've done on a trampoline was trying to avoid landing on the springs by jumping over them and dropping onto my side on the ground. Didn't break anything, but I don't do crazy tricks on trampolines, either, instead just bounce.

Dislocated and broke my finger playing kickball
Broke my foot while skateboarding (rolled it so bad my muscle tore my bone apart)
Nearly broke the same foot again playing basketball (bad sprain; rolled it again)

And that's about it

BONUS: Almost got knocked unconscious from running into a pole

I broke my middle toe on my right foot. Boy did it hurt.

When I was five, I fell about two feet... onto a carpeted floor... and snapped both my radius and ulna (bones in forearm) in my right arm.

My arm made an "S" shape. Didn't hurt unless I tried to extend my forearm though.

Didn't the Simpsons teach you anything?!

Somehow I've only ever broken one bone, and while that's not very weird, that single incident of me breaking something happened right at birth. :\

Collarbone btw.

I'm pretty lucky, never broken or even damaged a single bone. Although I was born with the umbilical cord around my neck (may be related to my autism, this is a whole different topic in itself). Also when I was younger I got a cocktail stick stuck in my foot, it was about an inch deep.

Broke my finger while playing basketball. Everyone was impressed.

Got plenty of other injuries over the years (not many people have seen their own kneecap, I bet), but no broken bones.

I never had a bone break ever since as of the writing of this post, the only major injury I had so far was when I hit my forehead onto an iron step while playing in a playground. It didn't hurt much other than a big disorienting headache and I didn't notice the blood gushing out of the cut at first as I thought it was just sweat running down my forehead until I rubbed it and scared some kid away shortly after.

Nope, I've only fallen like 4-5 times in my entire life, I guess I should consider myself lucky.
The closest thing to breaking a bone that I had was slicing my finger open(enough to probably see the bone) with a pair of scissors because I was missing them as a razor to slide cut a very sticky piece of candy out of its wrapped(I was 16 and desperate for sweets).
Scissors slipped and went right into my index(or was it middle finger, I forgot). Should have gotten stitches but my mom stayed with me until it stopped bleeding.
Didn't move my finger for 2-3 whole weeks just to make sure the scab didn't loosen up and allow blood to get out again.

Bonus stories?: I also grabbed the hot end of a soldering gun when I was 3 because I though it hadnt been used yet, and tripped on road(one of the times I fell) and scraped the skin off my knees when I was 5.

That happened to me... with my face, instead of my knee (I think I was about twelve when this happened).

There was a girl who was trying to comfort me since she saw me get hurt. I was hugging my knees because of the pain. When I finally stood up, well, her reaction to seeing my face was not very reassuring.

Pretty much all of the skin on my face got chafed off by the pavement. I looked like a zombie.

And I kept looking that way for about a week. It was... a great conversation-starter.

How did you survive the umbilical cord around your neck? Was your arm extended upwards and the cord wrapped around that, too, keeping it loose? (I ask that, because that's what prevented my cord from strangling me)

Only times I've fallen on the road were when I was using a bike and trying to go up or down curbs. Even the time me and my siblings got rollerblades and went up a really tall hill to roll down, my survival instinct kicked in and said NOPE, down they went and tumbled while I slowly climbed down the dirt potion again.

Your valentine's day sounded alot more exciting than mine. I lazed around all day alone inside.

At a children's nightclub, me and a few friends once wandered off playing games (we were about 7-8). We went through a construction hallway and I stepped into a rusty nail which penetrated my shoe and half my foot.

Never broke any bones, though.

I'm not sure on the exact details, I wasn't told that much. I assume they just cut it when I was born, I actually lived in a box (can't remember the technical name) for my first few weeks.

Personally I've sustained no serious injuries but let me tell you about my birthday when I was young.

My father had bought me a ramp (a bike/skateboard ramp) and we were using it out front. My dad took my older sisters bike and went off it getting some air time and we told him to do it again but higher! He said sure went faster and got higher!

Then finally we said one more time one little bit higher and he did. Except when he came down this time, the back tire hit the end of the ramp (double sided ramp) and the front tire moved down extremely quickly toward the floor.

The front tire spiked the floor and twisted left throwing him off the bike and straight into a giant concrete pole about 10~ feet away. He broke his wrist. Interestingly enough sitting in the grass holding his broken wrist he just kinda looked up at my mom and went. "Yea it's broken, any of your friends working tonight?" (My mom is a nurse) and they sped off.

This all happened on my birthday that year and both my parents were gone for the rest of the night leaving me and my friends with my grandparents.

He still has the scars today and for the longest time he actually had a large metal rod inside his wrist which only got taken out some LONG time after.

I hope this poorly formatted story entertained you.

I was once hit by a car.

It took the skin off one of my toes and my shoe came off.
Otherwise I was alright.

I just got out of the hospital with a septic brain infection that terminated with meningitis.....can't remember if it fell over Valentine's or not, for obvious reasons. Apparently everyone was incredulous that I was even still alive lol

Anything but the shoe D:

Luckily it was only a minor accident (you can say it that way, right?), as car accidents have quite a bad history of severity.

You probably mean the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
