I have never been a huge fan of the show, but I did watch it.

Have not watched the last few episodes but watched the finally today...

Well.. I am out....

Yay, blacklist, you shall have a few more tags put into it. Show is dead, the rest is just going to get worse.

I didn't watch any episode since princess rumor was confirmed. Was this episode even worse than it was expected to be? I don't believe it's possible.

BTW, can we have princess_twilight (implied to mary_sue of course) tag so we can blacklist it?

Sadly It was worse than I expected....

I figured it would be a double-episode like the past finales, but it was all done in 20 minutes

(in minutes)
1-4 --- find out there is something wrong with cutie marks
5-7 --- find out what happened
instant --- figure out the cure (yes, it took her 2 seconds to figure out what to do)
7-15 ---- solve the problem
15-18 ---- become a princess
18-end --- ceremony

There was absolutely no plot, no drive, no real delema, no real work.

It was just song after fucking song saying nothing and getting to be a princess.

It is like I am watching a cartoon for 4 year old girls. It used to have so much more in it, but now it is just mindless dribble...

That's it, nothing more. It was just bad. No plot to tell an hour long story in 21 minutes. It is like watching the 1977 hobbit movie.... except the movie actually made me laugh....

I would love to ask Faust what she thinks of it. I would not be amazed at all if she hates what she put so much work into has become...

HAHA! THAT IS RICH!

Just decided to look it up and see if Faust had anything to say about the season 3 finale.

Just found out: She wasn't even part of season 3. She was replaced by someone else as Executive Producer for the show.

Now I know why season 3 was utter shit. Its like having the best snow dog racing team and you shoot the lead dog and still expect the team to win races.

As far as I know she didn't have much to do with season 2 either, besides being in credits.

@show
Maybe they realized that this episode is shit, so they wanted to get done with it as quick as possible. Please tell me if they mentioned prince Blueblood. He is really worth mentioning when debating what it takes to be prince(ss).

It's shame the show degenerated that much. It's like starting with Sonic SATAM and then instead of cancelling it transforming it into Adventures of Sonic the Hedghehog.
Well, at least there is still that 10% of fandom.

Thanks Gilda, I know I was late to the party on that one.

Like I said before, never very big into the bronies, but I like the show. Well... did like the show anyway.

--- On a side note though, the Surgeon Law link was interesting to read.
Although, like before, I am probably late to reading that too, HAHA!

No prince blueblood. Just the idea that if you able to create magic, you are able to become royalty.

Totally confusing point though: even in the episode, TS was given a journal from starwirl the bearded to help finish his final (incomplete) spell.

If starwirl created an entire library wing's worth of magic, why was he not a King/prince?

I'm going to be as nice as I possibly can when I say this.

You are watching a fucking show that was designed and put on television for little girls. The fact that you're looking for sweeping plot arcs, intricate storylines and deep, meaningful character development in a show whose target market is children is silly and extremely sad.

And don't give me that 'Hasbro tailors it for the bronies now that they know we like it' nonsense. Bullshit. It is now and has always been a show for young girls, not 18-30 something socially repressed males. Stop looking for diamonds in the pigpen.

HAHA, you dont know me very well.... and I dont expect you to.

I fully agree with you, it is a little girls show. I did not watch it even with the hype for the longest time. I finally gave it a chance and it was better than expected.

Using your analogy: I looked in the pigpen expecting shit and found diamonds. I discovered that the show was good, and the bronies fucking annoying.

It has changed, the show is now what it was originally meant to be: for children.

And the whole "brony tailoring" thing: it is true, and it made the show even worse. Episodes/parts of episodes were added as fanservice to the bronies and just made it odd/weird.

I was hoping this show was going to be like Avatar: The Last Airbender. A show meant for pre-teen kids that was so well done that any age group could enjoy it. By all means, it was no where as good as Fullmetal Alchemist, but it came awefully damn close in enjoyability.

Now kindness, aparently you did not read my earlier post. I am not a brony by any means. I am just a person that likes animation above most other art forms and had found FIM enjoyable... well for a while that is. The show at one time did have "sweeping plot arcs,...[and] meaningful character developement" at one time to make this show enjoyable for me. That time has past.

Now to go back to watching FMA:BH while I continue to wait in a change of weather so that I can adjust the camber in my car.

No, it's rather sad how you think that show for kids need to be stupid, and that there is no possibility to create show which both kids and adults can enjoy. There are at least few examples how this can be done - deal with it.

And besides everything, Waffles is not comparing this show to anything other than the first and second season. So you're basically beating the strawman.

You know what, I had no problem with the final episode for season 3. I mean, it was getting a bit rediculus on how heavy the "You are such a good friend Twilight" Princess Celestia was going on about.. but it's perferctly fine, its a story for GIRLS!. LITTLE GIRLS!

I like the art, I find the stories entertaining, I like the voices, most of the songs are top notch; but in no way would I ever call myself a full fledged "Brony".. unless the fact as a male, I like it. I guess thats a stage one brony. Yes the focus of the story has changed since Lauren Faust decided to not longer remain lead, but the writing was on the wall and anybody expecting it NOT to change is a damn fool.
As long as it remains a cute light hearted story about (non-horrifying looking) ponies adventuring and growing up together, I'll continue to watch it.

That said, I'm fully looking forward to Season 4.

Edit: /mlp@4chan and ED are delightfully filled of whiny butthurt.

Hmm, why do people have a natural urge to impose their opinions on others? Seems like its all people do nowadays.

The entire episode, I spent thinking "Wait, what?" because it was going by so fast. Worst case of "here's an hour and a half episode played in 22 minutes" I've ever seen in my life.

Even the things that otherwise would have made sense and seemed logical, did neither, because it just popped from one thing to the other like a ferret on crack.

I don't expect deep and engaging story and exposition from a show designed for kids, but I do expect it to not sprint the fuck past me like Jesse Owens.

I haven't seen the new episode *flails arms*

Waffles has had the best opinion in this. Kudos. And I agree with what you say.

Shame, I disliked the fans, but the show deserved better.

And I agree and shrug with you. Though, I am an occasional fan, I don't like to be so inside fandoms (almost where creepyness is at the corner)

"worth the wait"? Valve much? :P
Meh, I'd say that with seasons 1, 2 and part of 3 I'm fine >_>

still, I have not seen the last episode

They were paid a while back for 4 seasons. I wonder if that means that season 4 will be the end?

Updated by anonymous

The last episode is a bunch of song routines and an explanation of how easy it is to become a princess. It doesn't have much substance but they have another season for that. Rumors of the show's death are greatly exaggerated. If you are a little girl you probably enjoy knowing that you too can become a princess or Supreme Court Justice.
