Perhaps you're thinking of some other tag.
Based on the tag history, edgy has never been tagged more than that.

I see a whole lot of black + signs there. That means it was removed, right?

It was on most of that trolly pony guy's stuff, and I definitely remember some furry oc's that got tagged with it.

It got removed from a couple images for not being very relevant to the image, but the rest seemed okay. Maybe less than 30 posts ever had the tag.

It means that person A added a tag, and someone removed it later.

There's also the similar original_character_do_not_steal, which might have a few of the posts you were talking about.

Edgy occurs when middle-brow, middle-age profiteers are seeking to suck the energy, not to mention spending money out of the "youth culture", so they come up with this fake concept of seeming to be dangerous when every move they make is the result of market research and a corporate master plan.

Someone better get that quote.
