I think there should be a bigger focus on tagging penile or vaginal masturbation, does anyone agree? I think its a big distinction that isn't recognized as much as it should be.

You can get specific with existing tags, such as solo female masturbation.

They're new tags. There's also a thread for this, the tags will probably end up being wider in use after a while.

That would also give results of a female performing anal masturbation, and would not include any vaginal masturbation from intersex characters. Unless you want to suggest that the average person should start using searches like ~female ~herm ~cuntboy solo masturbation -anal_masturbation (and use up more than half of their tag search limit in one go)

EDIT: You also wouldn't get any images containing masturbation with more than one character

Tags such as these are why I gave up on tagging a few months ago. We just keep adding more and more specific tags, even though most posts are missing even the basic ones.

At best, those new tags will be tagged for maybe 1% of posts that should have them.

I understand why you feel this way, but it disappoints me, because in many ways you were the user I looked up to when it came to tagging, and it makes me slightly sad to know you've given up on it.

I want to deprecate the various insertion tags, but haven't had time to clean them up (a lot of fisting/fingering is in there, several vore tags are implicated to it, basically it's a complete mess).

+1 to solving the mess that is the insertion tags.

At some point they were an attempt to split "inserting a penis" from "inserting a non-penis object", but they've really only served to confuse people.

Clearly a reason to remove the insertion tags by aliasing to their respective penetration tags.

The reason I love this site so much is BECAUSE of the specific tagging. I've been a lurker for about a year, made an account about a month ago so I could favorite images, and have started tagging and updating wikis very recently. This is a great community!

I gave up after it became obvious that I can't even keep up with couple of simple tagging projects, no matter how many hours I sink into tagging every day. The amount of new posts per day is staggering, and vast majority are undertagged.

No matter what you search for, it will only find a fraction of what should show up. And yet, we keep adding more and more new tags, which takes time away from tagging the basics.

This site already has ~58000 general tags. About 90% of those are either undertagged, or redundant and in need of cleanup or aliasing. How about we fix the existing problems before adding to the workload?

For all that I know, at the rate I'm tagging since my e621 inception, I might just overtake Genjar. I've already (narrowly) overtaken Genjar in this year anyway, especially since being promoted to Privileged back in March.

And I don't see myself giving up anytime soon either. It's easy for me to tag via smartphone for a couple of hours every other day or so, and there's always something that needs tagging. One just need to look.

I was a lurker for two, and look how much good I've done for e621 in almost a year.

This is just absurd, I'm looking at these now. I can see plenty that would do far better being aliased to other tags, but I really don't want to go post thousands of threads for it.
