Topic: How should I tag artists who also use the same name for their character?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I just changed all the Munks to Munks_(Artist).

So for his character, should I use Munks or use Munks_(Character).

I couldn't use Character:Munks before as the tagging was getting confused with Artist:Munks, but as I said before I re-changed the tags.

So should Munks be left alone (so it can ask the user to redirect to Munks_(Artist) or Munks_(Character)) or use the tag 'Munks' as the tag for the character?

There's one picture of the character and 161 pictures from the artist. Personally I'd use munks for the artist and put the character under the tag munks_(character).

That's because I only tagged the character once before deciding to ask. There's about 30 of him, and then another 100ish that I have yet to upload.

I really don't want to re-do 150 images of Munks_(Artist) -> Munks. His character and his artwork are equally popular. So it might actually make more sense to have Munks_(Artist) and Munks_(Character) just because searching for Munks will bring up a prompt for: "Maybe you meant: munks_(artist), munks_(character)" which will give the user the ability to search for exactly what they want.

That makes sense, right?

eh, i could take care of that. i don't know what the character (fursona) looks like though so i wouldn't know what to tag as character but changing that artist tag should be easy enough.

edit: post #557345 is this what his character looks like?

Munks_(Artist) aliased to Munks? Would it still show the prompt for "Maybe you meant Munks_(Character)?" if it is aliased? Just so people could easily find what they're looking for, whether character or artist?

Nah, I messed it up, I'll fix it, no need to throw work on others. But it might be easier to do as Mutisija says. My big issue is just others finding what they want as quickly and simple as possible and if the prompts show up so others can quickly click what they want.

It already comes up if you try searching for munks (admittedly I'm not 100% sure how it chooses when to do this, but low post count tags tend to do this automatically).

I'm thinking that munks -> munks_(artist) would be the better choice if we wanted to alias one of them, but it looks like you guys sorted it out already so I'm not sure if it matters much. :P

Edit: I went ahead and made a quick disambiguation page at munks, hopefully that helps keep the two straight.
