Topic: Can I tag myself as an artist on pictures I've edited but didn't create?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I mean, you can, if you want to make a lot of people upset very quickly.
So, no.
What you can do is create a set containing posts that you have edited.

No. But you can say in the description that you are the editor

Not in the tags, no. Edited images get the edit tag, and the original artist's tag.

However, you can use the description box to credit yourself as the one who made the edit (and only the edit), if you want to. Just make sure that it's clear that you're only responsible for the edit changes and that full credit for the image itself is still is attributed to the original artist. Because the focus of the credit should still be towards them, and not towards someone else who made some changes to it. If that makes sense.

Thanks everyone. I didn't mean replacing the original artist tag, I meant having both the original artist and mine. I definitely don't want to steal credit for these images! I guess I won't do that, then.

That's plagiarism.

That's if the person (editor) claims artwork made by someone else as themselves, which I see none

You can do what Durandal, TheHuskyK9 and furrypicle said. In fact, you can do all three:

Give due credit to the artist and say what you did to the artwork in the post description (examples: post #448979 & post #494930)
Add the edit tag to your version

...and everyone's happeh! :D
