Topic: aeromorph tag

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

So I have an issue with this.

The wiki entry (which I edited without changing the overall meaning) defined them as "Anthropomorphic aircraft."

But if somebody wants to find that, they could use aeromorph anthro to get their results. I feel that aeromorph shouldn't be restricted to anthropomorphism, but rather any aircraft shaped after a living creature, which does not necessarily mean the same thing as living_aircraft. Living_aircraft can, as far as I can tell, just mean a plane that sprouted eyeballs on the fuselage.

For example:

I agree. Technically aeromorph should be applied to any creature part aircraft part something else.

Just one question: should the living_aircraft tag be reserved to the almost non-morphed aircrafts (with just eyes and/or genitalia) or should we imply aeromorph->living_aircraft?

I think I made that implication a long time ago and it hasn't been addressed, but I might not have. Either way I support it

It was in forum #140243 for reference (I still support it).

There was also some related discussion in forum #145008 related to mechanical things, but not much of it focused on aeromorphs.

nobody else cares about aircraft :c

ADMINISTRATION DOESN'T CARE ABOUT AIRPLANE PEOPLE

Well so far that's a unanimous agreement, so I guess I'll go ahead and revamp this tag

Anthropomorphic really just means having some human traits, not being humanoid. The anthro tag is used for humanoid entities, yes, but as defined for Aeromorph, it's the broader form.

Just going by the name "Aeromorph," there's nothing to indicate anthropomorphism though. I think one tag meaning anthro is good enough.

Not entirely related, but I just gotta take a moment to say it: I really don't understand why aeromorphism is a thing. I don't see any "Hydromorphism," or tank/truck babes or anything like that (not that I particularly care to, but it makes me wonder)

okay moment over, back to tags and stuff

Well, planes have the smooth, rounded lines, all over, and a roughly body-shaped.. body. Even the most expensive cars or trucks only look really rounded on the top side.

Anyway those exist too apparently . Even tanks , I could only find that one tank image though.

Because furries.

Okay, okay, lemme try to explain. Eric W. Schwartz was one of the original furry artists; or rather, one of the first who were any good at it. And anyone who saw his furry animations back in the day (such as At the Movies or Quality Time) almost certainly also saw his Aerotoons animations. Which includes many modern furry artists. And over time, those just kind of blended together when artists started wondering what an anthro aeroplane would look like.

Makes sense, I guess. But I think this is the one fetish on this site that I can't even understand at all. Guess it doesn't really matter, but...

Oh, tanks (Terramorphs) definitely exist, and Gangs 'n Whores is going to be adding some Hydromorphs once it's more fleshed out.

There is a bit of irony in those words

Anyway, the term "Terramorph" sounds catchy, so I added it to that post and gave it a species tag

Not my thing, but if I don't tag it, who will?!

Anyway... I want to get back on topic because I'm not sure what the consensus is: should aeromorph mean anthro or what

In and of itself, no. Aeromorph should cover any living_aircraft (which should be aliased to Aeromorph), including stuff like you posted in the opening post. Likewise, Terramorph should cover land-based living_machines (This tag should be kept, it covers all three types) and Hydromorph the water based ones.

Unless we are planning to implicate aeromorph, anthro means anthro. We don't need a tag for both anthro_aircraft and non-anthro_aircraft any more than we need anthro_horse and non-anthro_horse. Particularly when the line is blurry enough to begin with. You can easily have a feral pony and still have it be an aeromorph (there's several on the site), so anthro is definitely not required.

What aeromorph means to me is a the more cartoony/fleshy variations of living aircrafts, as apposed to just being a glorified robot. However, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me to have both tags for such an overlapping topic with a low tag count, but that's just me.

You're not alone. I would be for aliasing living_aircraft → aeromorph. Why? It's catchier and it doesn't have any underscores (do I need a better reason?).
But if not, aeromorph should imply living_aircraft at the very least.

I'd rather use aeromorph because there isn't much of a distinction, as well as all of the reasons you've just described.
