I'm currently creating Wiki's for the page tag group:weapons I made. I gathered all sorts of guns, noted them for implications and aliases and created Wiki's for all the missing (or detail-lacking) pages.

I noticed that the tag m16 has been aliased to assault rifle. I understand the idea of avoiding unnecessarily in-depth tags. However, the ak-47, p90, rpg-7, sawed-off shotgun etc. are all not aliased to respectively: assault rifle, submachine gun, rocket launcher and shotgun, but implied instead. That's mainly because these weapons are well-known and quite different from other guns. It's also because of the sheer fact that these are popular weapons for artists to draw. The m16 is also a famous gun that many people can discern and recognize. Different versions of the m16 (m16a2, m16a4, etc.) can also be caught with it.

So my request is to de-alias m16 from assault rifle, and change it into an implication of m16 -> assault rifle.
Especially now that the weapon tags and Wiki's are organized and more detailed, I think we can be more specific.

I've had this in an old thread on melee weapons, so I'm gonna leave this here if it could help(on melee weapon tagging).

You probably have included half of the stuff in here by now.

Thanks. I was just busy sorting them alphabetically so this comes in time. A lot of them only have a few posts attached to them, though, so I'll see what to add.

I don't know if there're any similar lists on other threads, but you might want to give a shot in searching.

The last time I did an entire list of tags for implication/alias was food based, and that was a sh*t-ton of work to do.

Overall, I'm not against the idea (particularly since they are fairly well-organized now), but I do prefer to avoid being overly specific (guns aren't my forte, but stuff like the m16 is probably okay).

IMO, i think it should be M16 aliased to AR15_platform, which is them implied to assault_rifle, since AR15_platform would work as a catch all for every firearm that falls under the AR15 family, including M16s and M4s and their respective variants.

If you say so, but I honestly doubt the AR15 is as known as the M16.

I should have done research before making the weapon tag group; I made it from complete scratch and found most of the weapons manually.
I feel silly now.
