Topic: Malware gone but what was it?

Posted under General

Hi awhile back i went onto this site and everytime i clicked on it my antivirus said that it had attempted to instal malware on my computer. Now i come back to see if the problems been fixed and thank god it appears it has been. The only thing is i'd like to know what was wrong with the site and what was causing the alerts in the first place. If anyone knows please tell me because i'm a little worried the site may not be entierly clean

oh it was just a java script for collecting load time data! well if it's collecting such things i can certainly see why it tripped my security. thank god i was worried for a bit. Thanks Kimpumomo

Was it Kaspersky warning you about rum.js? Some people keep getting warnings about it but it's just a network timing/performance script that tells us what pages are loading the slowest so we can fix them.

no i run Avast Anti-Virus and it was giving me a warning for a malware attack if memmory serves me right. But i don't recall looking at the neame of the file or link very closley. However the warning didn't come up now and after a scan my computer appears clen so it was most likley a reaction to RUM.JS

It was a reaction to one of the ad's actually, it didn't give the file name {Also an avast user} but gave a link to the dragon fr.uit hosting service {The ad's are what had the rum.js embeded in them

You can see how problematic it is for troubleshooting when you can't remember details like the file name, link, or type of attack. It pays to pay attention to details.

that wasn't an ad celestia, that's our load measurement script.
