theres a good number of these kinds of pics i'm sure. 6 others from the tumblr this one is from as well.

maybe we should have a tag for these "unique" pokemon.

There is already a pokemon_fusion tag, if that's what you mean.

If you're suggesting there should be a tag for Wigglychamp, Lickieotto, Geofairy and the every combination possible, it would just create clutter and many of them would go largely unused if ever used at all.

I think tagging them as hybrid along with their base species and pokemon_fusion is sufficient.

Portmanteau species names seem like they'd just create clutter unless they're something that can exist in real life, where there's a documented consensus on what the official name is. (Zonkey, liger, beefalo, wholphin, etc.)

Or unless they're really frickin' popular in the fandom, such as the folf.

Maybe I'm just being persnickety, overcritical, and ignorant: But Folf appears to be mainly a vanity tag.

post #611498 These look like plain wolves to me.

post #622237 Some sort of malamute/husky mix?

Probably doesn't help that wolves and foxes are both very canine-like (lupine/vulpine) so the mix of traits or indication of hybridization isn't as obvious as something like Dracophins.

I tend to think of them as looking like wolves (with maybe a slightly shorter muzzle), but with all the sexual mannerisms of foxes (subby as fuck, mainly).

I just used folfs as an example because they're the most popular.

I'd prefer a more standardized and predictable way to handle those that don't resort to portmanteaus, such as fox-wolf (or something like it). Even if it leads to an increase in clutter it's probably better than the myriad of rabbitcat/cabbit/kibbit/whatever else someone might come up with as a tag.

But yeah, uncommon ones probably don't really benefit from a dedicated tag (as chdgs already mentioned).

Most people use folf to describe "fox-wolves", so that one should probably remain as is.

that's because a folf is a fox/wolf hybrid as the word implies (or should imply as it sounds pretty obvious imo).
