Topic: Suggestion of a new tag_group: form.

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

All tag groups are here.

I suggest making group that divides characters by form they have. Examples of form tags are:
anthro
feral
human
animal_ears
monster

and probably some more like
taur
goo
humanoid
naga
mermaid
dragon-kin

probably some of the latter could be implicated to new, more general umbrella tag.
I think it's a good idea to have organized list, so every tag on that list should have according x_on_y tag like, for example, human_on_feral.

There was discussion about this on forum #72311. There is discussion about this on forum #148136, and it has been going on many other forum threads with many conflicting ideas. So I think that it would be a good idea to create one forum thread and wiki page to decide how it should be divided.

"naga", "taur", or "mermaid" should be "species" actually (much like "lagomorph" or "cetacean")

His point is that species isn't adequate for this.
In particular Taur would definitely qualify in this new category if approved.
I could see mermaid and naga going either way.

I think we need to come up with a name for this group before we decide who to throw into it. It can be tweaked later on of course, but if we have a tag name it will make it easier to imagine who would fit into it. Still haven't come up with any great ones, but I'll toss out some thoughts to get ideas rolling.

monstrous_humanoid
fiend
mythological
mythical
fantasy_creature
non_human
para_human

Why? A taur is a equine hybrid.

No, that is a centaur.
A taur is a individual of unspecified species with a pronograde lower body, and a humanoid upper body sitting on top of the lower body.

Nope, a centaur isn't an equine hybrid, it's an human-equine hybrid. A taur is the same except there's no human.

uh no sorry it's true taur is considered to be furry form now

There's really no hard-fast concept of what taur means when it comes to hybrids that I've seen. The general rule seems to be: four-legged body (lower- any four-legged species), with a humanoid-ish torso and arms (can be any species, but if not one that already has torso/arms, is usually anthrofied to have them).

It'd probably be good to set an official definition in regards to e621's tagging rules for it.

"Taur" is used generically the sort of general body shape that a centaur has: (usually) regular animal body, with a humanoid upper body beginning where the animal neck would be. Examples of non-equine taurs are trivial to track down: taur -equine.

Almost all of these tags are better off as the species tag type.

But wait, there are "tag groups" and "tag types". The tag group is more like an unofficial wiki project to categorize a bunch of tags on a wiki article.

Tag types are artist, character, copyright, species, general. You aren't asking for a new tag type, right?

If you just want to make a wiki page titled "tag_group:form", I don't think you need permission to start one. There are 4353 species type tags. I don't see 4353 tags on the tag_group:species page.

Yes, I just want to add wiki page for tag:group, but I also want to make one thread for discussions that were previously spread among many other topics. And before I create page I want to know what to add. Currently the page would look like this:
anthro
feral
human
animal_ears
monster
probably_some_other_shit

I also thought that whole tag:group section was more official and didn't want to create a mess. I'll create it tommorow because right now website "is under heavy load".

wiki page

A character whose lower body is that of a feral creature, and the upper body of an anthro, human, or other humanoid creature

foxtaur
centaur
chakat

are given as examples, of taurs; there are also

dragontaur
wolftaur

the generic taur
and a few other *taur tags.

What you describe is like a .. feral taur, I think.. unless I misunderstood you
(when I initially read it, it seemed more like an ordinary feral except it had no head..)
. I'm not sure that there is a tag specifically for that; I've only seen a few images that properly qualify.

I have no suggestions for the name, but here's more for the group:

Penis_creature: Class of its own, since those generally cannot be tagged as anything else. Except maybe as monster.

Inanimate: Somewhat unintuitive tag for living objects. Again, those can't really be tagged as anything else.
