Topic: The Problem With Un-evolved Pokémon and the "young" Tag

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

This may have been said before, but it really is starting to bug me. Just because a Pokémon is not fully evolved does not necessarily mean it it young. Most Pokémon evolve by gaining enough experience in battle to reach a certain level (Note the "battle experience" part. Level =/= age! It is entirely possible to have a young Lv 100 Dragonite and an old Lv 12 Dratini just because the young Dragonite had an affinity for battling and the old Dratini did not. Pokémon do not level up with age. They have to collect battle experience). Other ways to evolve include reaching max happiness and leveling up, the use of items, trading, learning a certain move, and leveling up at a certain location. Note that "age" is not a cause of evolution. If a Pokémon has not met the prerequisite for its evolution, it will not evolve regardless of its age. Some Pokémon DO meet these prerequisites and simply choose NOT to evolve. For these reasons, the only reasons the "young" tag should be kept on these posts is if it is an OC described as young somewhere or if the artist added the tag themselves. Any thoughts?

The young tag applies to any characters that appear young.
It is not a numerical question, but an appearance one.
OC and artist opinions don't count, an elf character that's 500 years old but looks like a little girls is still going to get the young tag.

As to how that applies to pokemon, it's a bit of a gray area since they aren't really human.
But if the picture has a young looking character, it gets tagged.

tl;dr see ippiki's post above

The young tag is used for search purposes, much like the cub tag. Simply viewing images of this nature is illegal is some countries, so it's important for them to have tags on them that can allow them to be easily blacklisted for that particular content.

The young tag is not on there to denote that that particular pokemon is actually young, but that it appears to be young.

*edit* Fuck you guys, stop being so fast to reply to stuff. :I

Oh, well that makes sense then. The same with the comments above you. I still think it's kind of dumb to tag characters as young that might not actually BE young, but at least there is a good reason for it. Well that ends that issue then. XD

It's all about what you see in the pic, not what you know outside it when you're tagging.
Artist's opinions and OC information is not taggable, only what is in the picture.
