Topic: vore and why everyone hates it so much

Posted under Off Topic

In some situations I find that I'm amused by it, but it's never really a turn-on for me. And it has to be done pretty well to amuse me. I tend to just be weirded out by it.

Personally, I prefer birth, unbirth, and oviposition. Vore is another highlight for me. And I just plain don't feel disgusted by anything, which is why my blacklist is as dry as the desert.

My current avatar makes it pretty clear of the three things I like the most on e621.

Personally I just never understood what was appealing about it. But then again that same thing could be said for fetishes I enjoy.

Although mine are pretty tame in nature.

I've talked to a dude who was into vore and this was our conversation:

Husk: "What makes vore appealing to you"?

Friend: "Ok, imagine that your bed was a pod and every night you went in that pod to sleep. Inside the pod is the most comfortable and warm material you've ever slept on. You're never cold and you're safe from whatever is outside of the pod. Have you ever went under your bed covers and just felt so warm and safe? Well, I guess that applies to my character of having that same feeling but inside another character."

Husk: "I...guess I get it. But it's still weird yo."

Friend: "Not as weird as a certain someone who thinks he's a husky :p"

Husk: "Bruh..."

I prefer sentient non-forced soft vore, especially if it adds a humorous twist to it and features my favorite pocket monsters. :)

that's a good way to explain it.

but he forgets to mention how you come back out, if at all. which is what I think about every time I see vore

I'm not attracted to the idea of suffocating and dying inside someone's digestive tract. Or having something die inside of you.

see that's the thing about furry logic as well as drawn porn in general. anatomy is completely disregarded, sometimes to comical levels, and 'realistic' things like that happening are ignored as well. I guess the people who can enjoy that fetish are the ones who can more easily mentally push aside the consequences than people like us can. or not....and still be able to get off to it even moreso with that knowledge....shudder

This is an interesting point. I tend towards more realistic drawn porn usually, except for the species (and positions too, I guess). But I never thought of it in those terms.

Everybody has their own style.

I have no idea what style I'll favor, but I'll know eventually.

i like vore. but not the one where you die or get digested, that's soft vore i guess

Soft vore is just the act of eating another being whole, when they "Survive" the encounter its "Endosama" or "Full Tour", Digestion is a whole other thing, but is its own unique part of the kink, just as hard vore, unbirth {not actually vore} cock vore {not actually vore} anal vore, or any of the other freaky ones that pop up from time to time {And are many times not actually vore, just stuck with that umbrella term.}

As for why people enjoy it? WHy do people enjoy humping feet? Why do people enjoy scat? Why do people enjoy Vomit play, or mutilation?

Everyone has their own fetish, thats the thing about it, it doesn't make sense, it never will to those outside of it. Personally? I like vore because of the domination of it, the absolute control you have over another life if you're the predator, or the absolute submission if you're prey, your life is completely in the hands of the predator, utterly, totally.

Others, like your friend, mentioned the whole "pod" thing, and for some that is true, while the preds on that fence like the idea of beings inside them.

For some its about, well, bluntly, murdering in a rather horrific way.

Yeaaah, anatomy tends to work in funky ways in imaginary people land, after all, lets not forget the "hyper" community, or the Macro community that can somehow hump normal sized peoples, "Vore" is probably on the lower scale of things {Even if the digestive tract would take months to break down meals that size in terms of same-size vore, not to mention things like bones and what not.}

I'm not sure precisely what is going on in my head, but I can say this about how I think I'm thinking:

Most or even all art is silly IMO, so I don't expect it to necessarily make sense on a deep level. Much of it is wish fulfillment. My point of view of it is that it is largely about some idea of things you want to have in some ideal world.
Death, serious injury, and illness don't belong in my ideal world, therefore soft vore = okay, hard vore = nope, actual dismemberment[1] = nope, vomiting = nope, etc.

[1] as opposed to notional dismemberment -- fantastical physiology or 'portals'

I do understand unbirth, as well as birth. As a fetish.

But I do not understand digestion. I'm sorry I understand how someone can take a shower in blood and get off to it, but I can't understand how you get off to literally being turned into shit.

You see, I don't hate Vore but some art doesn't make it appealing. They make it gross.I'm fine with death its whats gonna happen its only basic logic but when you far and burp and all sorta gross sounds mixed with art styles that also make it even worse.I mean...some of its good.

I think the reason many people dislike, or even outright hate the subject (myself included), is because vore is essentially sadistic murder and mental abuse. In most cases, a victim is unwillingly eaten by another, and will most likely experience an intolerably painfull death from digestion (if they don't suffocate first), all while they are scared and horrified, thrashing about to escape. Meanwhile, the one eating will nonchalantly go about the whole situation, often having the audacity of telling them to settle down, as if what's happening is OK. This last point is more personal in opinion, but to actually have a reality where it's ok for this to happen is just disturbing. Seriously. To be brutally murdered like that with no one caring, or the one eating others to not be reprimanded just makes me angry and sad. I always see vore pictures and feel an need for vengeance. Rant over.

Boba Fett must have died the happiest Mandalorian ever.
(are Mandalorians capable of feelings?)

Depends on the individual, really. Blanket-covering a fetish is pretty common, but I'll give my opinion. I belong to a subset of the group who like 'endosoma' or 'endo'. Which, in this regard, is defined as being a more caring, protective version of vore. No blood, no suffocation, no digestion, no death. Sort of a... 'keep someone safe inside of you' thing. If that makes sense.

Soft vore I see neutral and kind of enjoyable (rarely), but others I have seen only reminded me of stories of cannibal couples. I don't mean this to offend, it's just something I can't get out of my head. Not saying people who like vore are cannibals.

Well i don't hate vore but it never turns me on and i can understand why some pepole like it. Actually i can understand almost every fetish
except one ... transformation. I just can't understand. How can someone enjoy that?

A lot of soft vore exists (where the consumed character isn't obviously stressed or actually "leaves" unharmed). I know that part of it is more of a comfort thing than a sadism thing (you can see this in some images where the consumed character is relaxing, happy, or even sleeping), but the reason obviously varies from person to person (particularly with hard vore).

i totally agree with this. it is indeed sad to see people like that, and now i have another reason to slightly dislike vore.

I definitely see where you're coming from, and I wonder why there isn't a tag for that. Personally I feel like unbirth/unbirthing better encompasses the ideals of endosoma under the circumstances you described because it's much of the same fleshy warm environment, but with the added associations of maternal care for the one being unbirthed. I also find it sad that there isn't much good unbirth art that depicts it as such, instead of just being used as a sex toy.

That's really hard to tag because the line between regular soft vore and endosoma can be pretty blurry, to the point of being subjective. Perhaps if the person inside is clearly unharmed and either comes out of it safe or is clearly and definitively told that they will be fine?

I can't really say. As for the latter half, I'd try to upload some of that but I tend to prefer mostly being part of the mop-up crew (uploading highest resolution image versions when I can find them so that we don't have to squint to look at some pictures). But maybe I'll look into it.

It causes me indigestion :P

But in all seriousness, I don't hate it, but I don't like it either.

dat necro :v

I don't know eating someone after sex is just not that appealing to me It's just another fetish that not as many people share, but I respect their fetish as I'm sure they respect our fetishes so I won't judge everyone likes different things :)

soft_vore should at least do a good job of filtering out the most irrelevant stuff (though it's probably not tagged as often as it should be.
