Topic: A question on "Minimum Quality Standards"

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

So three of my works were taken off the site for failing to meet minimum quality standards.

Now I ain't the one to argue, bitch and moan against mods whenever something gets striked down, but this leaves me witha few questions I couldn't find in any faq or rules or such.

Firstly: What are these minimum standards? The things I saw barely touched on the subject, maybe I'm reading the wrong thing but it would nice if I had an answer to it.

Secondly: If many people had favorited and upvoted a (now deleted) picture, which probably meant it had SOME quality but was taken down anyways - does that mean a mod striked it or someone else flagged it? how would I know if that picture would or wouldn't meet quality standards if I'm receiving positive feedback for said picture?

Thirdly: Is it just up to Moderator discretion what does or doesn't meet the quality standard?

I want to make it clear that the artworks deleted merely had a tagging error that was resolved was approved anyways by a mod but then deleted by another moderator. They all had a lot of upvotes on them, quite a few favorites, and even witty and criticism in the comments on one of them. I didn't draw anything against the rules, none of them were overly messy, and high res.

I dunno man, I only just started posting a month ago.

Any answers or such would do me a service.

Minimum quality is not set in stone, both the approver and the contents of the image make up the standard. I can't say anything on quality 'cause I can't see the images.

Just because people like and fave doesn't mean it met the site's quality. Even shitposts get favorites, sometimes likes, so those are irrelevant.

Janitor, moderator, and admin. As stated, it can depend on them. An admin can give major fucks about >500x500 images and delete as low quality, whereas there are some allowed because of another reason.

And, my personal advice: message the staff directly, they can tell you why specifically, and might tell you how to improve.

Trust me when I say "Don't nag the admins when asking about deleted content". They get really annoyed about that.

Also, don't do what I did and throw a huge temper-tantrum. (check my records for the story behind this one)

They just don't like nagging in general...

In all honesty though asking specifically what to do to make the cut in terms of quality WILL help. Cause an img I posted recently that I thought was fine was taken down for that reason. The reason was it was too blurry despite being a style choice and overall I didn't clean it up enough. So it could even be simple things like that.

I noticed what gets deleted varies a LOT depending on mod/admin in question, sometimes even same stuff gets approved by other people when reposted by someone else.

Upvotes, favorites, and comments do not really prevent posts from getting deleted. From viewing, yes, they were very messy. Resolution only matters when images are smaller than 200x200.

Well, OP, at least your pic was seen and filtered in less than 24 hours. I've had submissions in limbo for 24-72 hours on a couple of occasions, probably because they're 3D and not drawings, IDK.

Oddly I don't recall any post approvers getting cross when people asked why their art got deleted. Although I do suppose there is a difference between asking and nagging...

At any rate, heed Siral's advice and give the deleters a bell and ask.

It depends on the approver, as whole art thing is subjective.
Different moderators (lets call them like that) have different standards.
