Up to this point I've been using SAI and GIMP for my art. Clip Studio Paint is currently on sale for $20 and I'm curious about how it compares to SAI for the digitally lining/coloring I do a lot of.

Anyone with experience with both that can chime in?

I figure at that price it's almost worth getting it even if I only use it for occasional projects going forward. Would still like to have an idea going in though.

Seconding this. I'm using SAI, and would like to know how Clip compares

From what I heard Clip Studio Paint has a huge number of features that Sai doesn't, including the ability to make short animation in the newest update, so I'd recommend that despite being a Sai user.

SAI is getting really old at this point and they're really slacking off on SAI2. I did get CSP and as far as I'm concerned it's by far much better than SAI. I do miss how you were able to use the linetool and have control of your lines easier than what CSP has (Changing the dots to squares to control pinch, being able to select the dots then curve them and such) but even here SAI has some terrible algorithm for the lines and most of the time they don't look good at all, and CSP allows you to use any brushes for the linetool. Also, brushes are much more extensive and customizable with randomness options that SAI is lacking.

If you absolutely don't care for the linetool, I'd suggest Krita which is free, but CSP for 20$ is pretty much a steal
