Topic: bigger_version_at_the_source

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

While I'm looking for sources, I often find bigger versions somewhere on the web.

Is it OK if I add the source for the bigger version and the tag "bigger_version_at_the_source" to the post?

That way, other people can upload the superior version if they feel like +1'ing their post count.

I'd just take the extra effort and upload the larger post and all, but this is fine too. I just like having the best version of the image on the site.

Just post the high-res version and set the small one as the parent post.

Yeah... if you're going to take the time to type out that entire tag, you may as well just upload the larger version.

Speaking of different versions, does e6 has a limit of image dimensions and size?

I can't seem to find an explicit limit to dimensions, but generally speaking the larger the dimensions the better, and the smaller the file size the better.

The upper limits on either of those is pretty high; I guess anything higher than 8000x8000 pixels is pushing it, but it depends on the image in question. Obviously file sizes are to remain relatively low. I don't think there's any justifiable reason to keep a 3GB .jpeg file.

An exact limit visible at the upload page would be nice.
I always take my time to save furryratchets absurd res ~8mb .png images as 100% quality jpg images to halve their size.

I've gone through the list and uploaded the bigger versions.
