Topic: Should the various pokemon be "char:"s?

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Should I be tagging the various pokemon as being characters? or should I just leave it as default?

The official danbooru uses char tags, so that is what ill do here too.

If this is incorrect please tell me.

We're not there, but, in this case, sure it's fine.

Jeez, 7 years ago pokémon were characters, not species...

... did they not have species-type tags back then?

I know I tend to practice necromancy unintentionally, but this is ridiculous. 7 years?

thread necromancy

especially fitting given the age of the thread and how nothing of real use/value was added upon resurrection. :P

I think 7 years is a new fucking record.

EDIT: Nope, there's one record for 10 years.

I don't have any reason to believe they didn't, but tagging-wise pokémon have always been viewed as being on the border between a character and a species.

Seven years ago? Nah. This place was a mess back then. I think those were added around three years ago. Lemme see... forum #27357 and forum #45268.

Speaking of outdated tagging, I've been thinking for a while that it might be a good idea to create a new followup sticky for the Tagging Projects thread. 95% of it is completely outdated. It's actually kind of weird how much tagging has changed in just a couple of years.

No. You need a way to tell apart Ash's_Pikachu (although we're not tagging him atm), the character and pikachus in general. And if both are characters all hell is gonna break loose (heck, all hell would break loose just out of Ashchu...).

It's hairier in, say, Digimon were some digimon like Agumon, Shoutmon and Falcomon species canonically have multiple, distinct designs between series, but since we're not separating that canon by its anime series anyway, I don't think it's a huge deal even there.

sounds like too much trouble to me, and the mods who make these things would have to search every single species and search every single picture to ensure they don't miss anything. that's a lot of pics and way more animals. I'd just search for wolf -bear or wolf solo or something like that.

I love this one.

Yeah...I've been going back and forth with taking that down (same for the bug report thread). I want to get a suitable replacement up beforehand, I just haven't gotten the chance to write anything up yet.

Sparky would have been a better example. His forelock makes him unique.
