Topic: Instagram account with unsourced works, removed signatures

Posted under Off Topic

art theft? maybe something for artists-beware?

edit: o.O i recognise that renamon pic with her standing on that rock...wha? can't right click > view picture? or save or anything. wow, nice site, huh? no way to source a pic with that kind of lame setup.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BDhfYk8kEgi/ you are NOT the artist. now where, here on e621, have i seen that pic before?

found it, post #784287 and the artist is doomthewolf.

Something tells me that this person wasn't trying to claim creation for the works of others, though being lazy with sourcing and removing what they may perceive as disruptive signatures can give that impression.

how is a small sig up along the border of a pic like this one disruptive?

Shame that most of these artists are probably on FurAffinity and probably don't have their work anywhere that can be reverse image searched or easily searched, period.

Google can search furaffinity if you enter it as a site: field.

Weird, it was working before... Google must have changed something.

This is not okay. Can we get Instagram to close the account, or does each artist have to DMCA their own work?

are all of these pieces he has on his instagram one big picture that was enlarged and then chopped up or multiple pics? i bet it's the former of the 2 and should have a sig somewhere on it which was removed like all the other pics there.

also, whooeee at all the fire both his instagram and youtube accounts are getting from this. speaking of, the content on his youtube account may be of suspect as well. i see at least 5 videos titled "furry art". i wonder how many of the pics used in those were taken and modified like the instagram pics. that could cost him that account if it gets too many flags.

edit: looks like someone is losing posts. currently 4,989 remaining.

Wow, he set his account to private so artists can't go file takedowns. What the fuck is Instagram's policy like, that they don't close entire accounts for very blatant art theft reported hundreds of times? Jeez...

yep, hes gone into damage control mode now. just checked those videos on his youtube channel showing off all that art he stole and suddenly theres almost no comments anywhere.

guess hes really feeling the heat now.

If he made his account private, hasn't he essentially done the very thing people wanted the Instagram staff to do? Only he can view them, so, unless he makes the gallery visible again, continuing to go after him on Instagram would seem like it's being done purely out spite.

You can still view his posts if you follow him and have an Instagram account

They were scrubbing signatures from works (badly, at that) and posting no sources at all. My work was among some of the work stolen, 11 of my images posted without my consent and about half of those with scrubbed signatures.

I went out of my way to post a journal regarding the distribution of my work: https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7475683/

I filed a DMCA about this time yesterday and no, they don't close accounts, only remove the offending images via an automated system. Further, this person has a Youtube account that features videos of a lot of the same stolen art. My own art appeared in three of their currently existing "Furry Art" videos, which I have also flagged for plagiarism. Their Youtube is here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBIJjCGW-9Td9T8OyjqkDOQ/videos

Check their profile discussion as well, they have been doing this for about a year: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBIJjCGW-9Td9T8OyjqkDOQ/discussion

Instagram Help Center is where you can email the site: https://help.instagram.com/contact/364531043625021

This behavior is incredibly fucking shameful and I hope to see their accounts both terminated.

I am not sure what you are seeing. I see a comment from a year ago and one from 10 months ago. Even then, the part about the videos containing stolen art is still valid.

my mistake, your right. theres still 1 comment left from a year ago but it looks like one where they corrected a typo or something.

also, decided to take a quick peak at the guys google+ profile and surprise surprise, that gif of the cat eyes? found it here: 3xschwarzerkater.tumblr.com/post/126632671948 likely no credit given anywhere for that too.
