Topic: Original species tags & when they're warranted

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

In fantasy, we use a lot of dragons.

In more liberal fantasy, we use a lot of different things and call them dragons.

I've recently uploaded an image (post #859575) of a character original to me who, within the context of my work, is considered a dragon. Specifically, her exact species is named as wishdragon.

However, that is, to my knowledge, currently the only image in the universe including such a wishdragon, and the image already has her similarly-exclusive character name (rhubarb), so I did not include the tag for practical reasons.

At what point (number of images, supporting documentation, etc.) would it be considered acceptable to add the wishdragon tag and set it to a formal species tag?

You can feel free to add in custom tags, just don't expect them to be implicated unless they become popular.

You tagged it fairy_dragon, but that should be swapped out for faerie_dragon, which is the proper tag for it (Can we get an admin to alias that?). I'm guessing Wishdragons are intended to be small, butterfly-winged dragons that flutter around granting wishes? If so, it may be worth tagging both.
non_vore though is a pointless tag that shouldn't be added.

That's a good summary of wishdragons; I was just concerned whether it would be redundant -- visually they're just stylized fairy dragons -- or a "vanity tag" considering that so far as I know I'm the only person to use the phrase "wishdragon", like how Final Fantasy 11 calls its catgirls "Mithra".

Am I allowed to create a wiki article for a tag that's pretty much exclusive to me?

Maybe wait for the admins to chime in.
Couple of years back, the policy was to only tag original species that are sufficiently popular. Such as sergals. Dunno if that has changed.

I haven't been yelled at for tagging owlgryphons and sodium_butterflies.
