Hell no, well just no!

The correct term is "thumbs up" because...I don't know..it's just is.
Even when a person only puts/pushes one thumb up. You still say it as "thumbs up". - "they gave a thumbs up to the producer who was asking if the movie is great."

And YET we do have have mutiple pictures with the singular so clearly I ain't the only one making that mistake.

I really don't care whether singular is tagged on plural or vice versa on the majority of tags; certainly not for something trivial for this.

If we really need a distinction, it should be through something like 2_thumbs_up instead, where the meaning is going to be a lot more obvious.

I say just alias to the plural form. If people want to tag the 2_ variation they can go for it; I don't see the point, but maybe others do, and I'm not gonna take that away from them.

The point is that if people repeatedly use the wrong tag because of an arbitrary choice between singular or plural, there is no reason not to alias. Personally I don't care which direction the alias actually ends up going.
