Topic: e621 unofficial Android app WIP

Posted under e621 Tools and Applications

Hi all,

Just wanted to say that i'm currently working on an unofficial Android app for e621.net because I haven't seen one. It's still in very early stages. I hope there is enough interest, otherwise I won't have the motivation to go on.
I do have a screenshot of the current version: http://imgur.com/DjMct9G
I also have the APK of this version for those who are interested. It isn't close to finished yet. It currently only shows the popular images of the day. http://ge.tt/1enrSym1/v/0?c
Android versions 4.0 and up btw

I'll keep you updated

I'm totally in favor of anything that improves the e621 browsing experience. :P Hope to see some more updates from you.

I was actually working on a "pool viewer" making it easier to read pools on mobile devices but then Google decided to screw up with the new SDK version and now nothing is working anymore (i guess you should never trust the "preview versions" :P)

I made some progress: http://youtu.be/pXHMJ4KDA24. What do you think?
What you're seeing is me "infinitely" scrolling through all posts from new to old and the image viewer which is still missing a lot of parts.

Looks pretty good to me. I kind of like the giant wall of pictures, though I dunno if it might be kind of easy to end up losing your spot or missing some posts with so many on there at once. Maybe 3 columns instead of 4 would work better.

Looks awesome, keep going and count me in for testing when you feel like releasing a beta version!

I changed my mind. I now want to support all booru-like imageboards (that have a public API), so I have dropped my project and began a new one. I have just completed the first alpha version that has the basic functionality working. It would be nice if you could test the app and give some feedback. It's downloadable here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/6k2nte9bo7n5f9o/Imagaru-0.1a.apk
(be sure to enable "Show NSFW" to show all supported sites)
I'm thinking about uploading this app on the play store when it's done and i'm happy with the results.

First crash! :P

Ok some points to consider:

  • make the site selection buttons accept touch in any area not only the area that has text;
  • make app "remember" selection;

It seems the crash is caused when resizing the selected image...

So far so good! I'm digging that app!

Thanks for the feedback. I also just got a crash when zooming/scrolling images, I'm not sure how to replicate it. I'll keep investigating.

Looks very good so far! I am working on my own e621 app for quite a while now and it works great^^ Just need to translate it and then I'll post it here somewhere. Maybe we can get some inspiration from each other or even work together? ;)

This is great! I would love to have a fully compatible app for e621! Keep up the good work!

Are you kidding? I am making one as well, lol.

It looks like we might be getting a lot of e621 Android apps in the near future, lol.

Dude, thread's over a year old. I don't think there's any more support for it.
