Topic: I have two questions about proper tagging

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Instead of making two topics about it, I think it would be more convenient to ask both questions in one thread.

1. I completely understand how the ratings work when it comes to lewdness and whatnot, but I'm not sure how it fits into violence. I have an idea for a reaction image that's basically a facepalm hard enough to count as a Mortal Kombat X-ray attack, and I'm wanting to know what rating an overexaggerated skull-shattering would get. I also don't know if there already is a thread that covers this.

2. Said picture is also going to include an OC of mine, Chameloshi himself. Chameloshi is of an "original" race of mine called Yoshiran (I quoted because he started out as a Yoshi, but I eventually branched off and decided that he's not a Yoshi, but a mammalian race that kind of looks like one). I'm wanting to know if I should tag his name and race as normal or leave those blank since there is no viable source confirming that he is these things aside from my pictures and what I'm saying here.

I did not word those as questions, so I'm basically asking "How do I rate violence?" and "How do I tag my character properly?"

Updated

1. depends on how cartoony or realistic it is. its hard to tell without seeing it

2. again, its hard to judge without seeing it

It won't be super realistic, it's in my art style, and will just be like a dry break, minimal blood.

And I probably draw my character in a plain picture first before doing this picture.

Regarding #1: It's not a perfect system, but if you're unsure about what rating to give a post I'd just default to a bit higher than you think. So if you think it only needs questionable rating but still not sure, it's not really going to hurt much giving it an explicit rating. (Although your description sounds a bit more questionable than explicit.)

Regarding #2: I guess you could always go with something like hybrid and yoshi (if applicable). The hybrid tag isn't quite as useful as it could but it's sometimes better than nothing. Tagging one picture with a unique previously non-existent species tag isn't really that helpful, but if it ends up being multiple posts (or if you plan on doing more) then I don't see any problem with tagging made up species by their own uniquely identifying name. If it's an obvious mammal or obvious scalie etc. you could always add that to give some indication.

Alright, so I have an answer for my first question.

As for the second question, I guess hybrid and Yoshi would work, at least as a temporary placeholder until I create a proper informative image to describe Yoshirans and warrant a Yoshiran tag. I also need to come up with a better name for the species.

Regarding your "Yoshiran" tag, you'll still want to accept having "Yoshi" on it until it becomes a popular enough "Mammalian Yoshi" race that people recognize it, though that might not happen (Plenty of fictional races have been used only by one artist). It's fine to also tag "Yoshiran," as as long as what we see looks like it could fit the description of your listed race, we can use the outside information to say "Okay, it's also this."
If it looks like scale-covered than furry, though, then the Yoshiran won't fit.

Yoshirans have skin, not scales. They also don't have hair, or any visible keratin like fingernails aside from the plates on the back of the head.

I'm gonna try to make an infographic about Yoshirans because it'll be easier to understand if it's seen and not just heard.
