Nah, I pay for safe stuff

I've commissioned a couple of pictures before, and I was thinking of commissioning another one, if I could find an artist who'd be willing to draw what I'd want, for a price I can afford, in a style I like. I can be rather picky, and I'm not particularly wealthy, so my options are limited.
This is probably my favorite thing that I've commissioned.
Anyway, as for why... Well... Basically, I have a combination of interests for which there is very little art.
For instance. Big fan of female/female artwork. But if it involves a male, that ruins my enjoyment of it. Which, there's plenty of... Except I also prefer ferals over anthros or humans... And I'm not that big of a fan of MLP... So let's see where that leaves me...
Four pages. The last page is only half a page, and probably about half a page of images are blacklisted as well, so more like three pages.
Now, there are a lot of images within there that I like. And I like other combinations of things too. But it sort of shows my dilemma. For most people, there is a huge amount of porn that is relevant to their interests. And for some of my interests, that's true too. But for other aspects, it's not. So relatively speaking, commissioning a piece of art for that subset of interests is much more significant than it might be for someone who has access to much more art that is potentially relevant anyway.

If it's for ferals, I highly recommend this guy: http://jolly-jaks-sketches.tumblr.com/post/109986830025/for-more-information-contact-me
Here's some of his art: jolly-jak.
Commissioned these three myself:

(So yes, to answer the OP, I do occasionally pay for porn.)

Oh hey, nifty. That one is in my favorites. You commissioned that one?
It doesn't look like Jolly-Jak does female/female artwork. Or, at least, not that I could see. Which isn't to say he necessarily wouldn't be willing to, but it does mean I'm not sure how it would go. Definitely someone to keep in mind though, so thank you.

I pay for stuff I really like. If I want them to make more of it then I'll pay them.

This is also how I decide whether or not I'm going to cough up the money, if I like something I probably want them to make more, which means I am willing to spend money.
When I was poor I also pirated a lot, but I've bought most it by now (with only a couple exceptions remaining where I am not willing to pay full price for a game 4 years old by now).
But I've never commissioned porn, no sir.

I bought one of Dr. Comet's CDs back when he was still more open about selling them, because if anyone deserves some kind of tangible benefit from their work it's the Man himself....and on that note I can kind of see why artists would be loathe to devalue their income stream by allowing sharing or reposting, which kind of sucks why his new CD is being limited to Japan only (and thus mandated censorship).
But then some of the first furry art I can recall seeing was some of Comet's earlier pictures circulating on limewire (remember when that was an actual thing), so while redistribution eventually led to patronage I'm aware that wasn't the case for perhaps the vast majority of fans gained thereby, and probably one of the reasons he stopped making art for so long.
So, it's a quandary of sorts...some are content just to make others happy while others (rightly) want some kind of return on their work, and while I don't want to say one is more deserving of material support than the other, one may cease without it – but there's no way anything blighted by censor's touch is actually worth paying for. And I guess that's where we are now....it just blows

Yeah, story of my life too.
Used to use R4 for DS games, but I bought half of them when I got a job and eventually didn't even bother with the R4 at all once the 3DS came out.
As for comissions? Well, I'm hoping Doomthewolf is my first, but if I'm unable to, I'll just move my money elsewhere.

I don't have a female fursona for my male fursona to have sex with, and I don't have any friends that have female fursonas to commission porn with(I think). So i don't really see the point.
Maybe I'll commission a porn/naked ref of my fursona for future use in porn someday

I once paid for a porn site subscription, I don't know why I did it and I was very disappointed by the content. Free porn is better.
I've commissioned a little bit of porn art, more because I was bored than anything else.

When the topic of buying porn is brought up, I usually see people criticizing the very notion even in spite of the fact that there's a good chance that what they enjoy was sold, whether it's legally available to them or not. What are you guys' feelings about this? Does anyone here pay for it (commissions included)? For what reasons?
What got me thinking about this was the fact that I actually paid for a real life movie recently, something I've only ever considered once before, and realized how much paid content I had, both physically and digitally, mostly from eastern artists since western artists typically prefer comparatively expensive commissions (which also usually involves a lot more intimacy with the buyer) and subscription services/Patreon.
I draw and commissioned other people for porn. Those that scoff at the idea of paying for it are more than likely just bottom feeders scraping off what they can get. If artists that draw for a career weren't paid, chances are that the amount of porn circling around the fandom would be a lot lower, cause they need something else to do with their time that pays the bills.

Pfft, no, it's too much trouble to pay for it lol.

I second that, although this *points at own avatar* is the only thing (yet).

Just setup a PayPal account and you're settled for the large majority.

Not really. Generally I'd rather draw it myself, even if I only have time for a quick sketch. Maybe there will be somebody who can hit 95% of what I want (in terms of taste), but I haven't seen any evidence that that person exists (aside from myself, of course).
This applies to sfw and nsfw stuff equally.

Exactly.
To answer the question though, I never paid for porn before. A bit too pricey if you'd ask me.

Commissioning porn of your own character seems narcissistic to me, especially if you view your character as an alter ego (as many furries do). It's like hanging up a giant nude portrait of yourself in your house.
I really like the Patreon model, though. I would totally fund my favorite artists (if I had any money).

I tend to pay for commissions sometimes, but only with people that I know more than average, like artists I happen to have over Skype, but for the most part I only have been commissioning Clyndemoon since he draws with a cute style, doesn't ask nearly as much as other top tier artists and he also likes characters that no one bothers to draw because only mainstream characters pay up.

I'm pretty sure that's about 95% of the fandom commissions' economy, if you include OCs like recolored Pokemon and the likes. Why it is the case is pretty simple : They feel, kind of special to have their characters being drawn doing all the nasties so they can potentially show them to their (RP) friends and make their (RP) character more, believable I think. I know way too many people who commission a lot, and I really mean by "a lot", their own characters to the point that commissioning for them is pretty much a substitute to drugs, which tend to be very likely since they usually upload them on their "own" gallery waiting for those precious comments and favs to come.
