Topic: Tag Alias: x-ray -> internal

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Internal by itself is used for a separate cutaway image, while x-ray by itself is used for a seethrough shot. Some people like to search for either on specifically, so I could support this if it were an implication.

Depends on what use case is more common. If the average person is looking for a cutaway panel OR a seethrough shot, the implication is helpful (the most common use case goes from two tags ORed to one tag, although they would need to somehow find out which one is the umbrella tag). If the average searcher is looking for a cutaway panel XOR a seethrough shot, that gets more complicated to analyze, but I think (midnight thinking r hard) it breaks down to if (people looking for [whichever one becomes the umbrella tag] > (people looking for the other one + people looking for either), it's harmful, else it's helpful. Assuming that there are any users who care about the difference, an alias is bad.

Also, it's worth noting that while we may want that distinction, it doesn't appear in actual usage. x-ray is full of internal cutaway panels.

So, anyone who uses these tags care to chime in? Do you care about the distinction? If you do, which one are you more likely to be looking for?

I'll start by saying that internal panels don't bother me, but x-ray-vision kind of weirds me out. I'd prefer the tags to remain separate (and the distinction mentioned above to be maintained), though I don't really have enough time to do tagging projects like that (and going through internal/x-ray would be way down on my priority list).

I use them and I usually look for x-ray, but i'd rather it be separate from internal rather than an alias, if no implication is made.

I think they should remain separate. Though I would be all right with finding an alternative tag to internal that we use in its place. I can't think of one, though. The tags simply need to be cleaned up. They are each individually useful and refer to completely different things.
