i doubt it. i mean, sonic_(series) (for example) doesn't imply sega.

Sonic should imply SEGA, but Bandai Namco doesn't seem a famous enough name as being behind Tales Of games.

The problem that is I see here is that.. publisher tags don't really hold any value, because the series that are published often don't have anything to do with each other. So they would return completely random collection of posts.

The tag is useful neither for searching, and neither for filtering (at least I don't think anyone could be so offended by publisher that he'd never want to see anything from it ever again). Perhaps the only reason to have it would be as a redirect to a disambiguation page, to a list of the series that was published.

Bandai Namco also would be for things like Solatorobo as well, a lot of Digimon related stuff as they also own the rights to tamagotchi, and Digimon, They also own soul_calibur and klonoa and tekken plus anything namco alone owns.

I still know them as Namco due to their Museum collections, and even so, I don't know Namco as well as any console company. SEGA, Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are the big name companies for games, something they have due to their rights to create the crossover games.
Square Enix can qualify too, thanks to how big they've become with all of the console companies, and even having their own crossover series, Kingdom Hearts, but most developers don't have much sway here.
