Topic: goo tag

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I think that something should be done to this tag because absolutely nothing about it suggests that its meant to be exclusively for the living goos and i see often people mistagging slime as goo. also gel and ooze being aliased to this tag adds even more mistaggings.

so maybe it could be disambiguated and the living goos could be moved for example to living goo or goo_(species) or something?

Tagging stuff with living_goo sounds like the best solution. goo_(species) is just a bit awkward.

I'd name it either living_goo or goo_creature. Living_goo sounds a bit better, but goo_creature would be more uniform with food_creature...

I prefer goo_creature, but, if that's going to be done, I feel that disambiguating the tag would be pointless. Some form of goo is always going to be present with goo creatures.

Just keep gel aliased to goo, have goo_creature imply goo, and have ooze aliased to slime.

the point of my thread was to get rid of the goo tag and get it replaced with something that suggests that its meant for living and moving goo. and all the slime and goo related tags should be disambiguated so people would stop constantly using the tags for living goo for regular slime. also the all current aliases are bad because gel, ooze and so on is not always used to refer living goo.

Why replace goo instead of having it coexist with goo_creature or something similar if you know that goo is being mistagged because people don't realize that it's a species tag and not just referring to any gooey substance?

It seems to be mistagged less than an average tag, actually. I've been checking it for a year or two, and only ever seen it mistagged for goodras. Because of the name, no doubt. Large chunk of the posts under goo come from goo_girl, which is one of the most common monster girl types.

So I don't see any major problems with the goo -> goo_creature alias. Whereas switching it from a species tag to general would lead to goo_creature being undertagged, at least until the userbase adapts to the change. Which tends to take a long time.

Like I said, in order to be a creature made of goo, goo needs to be present. The opposite is not true, hence the suggestion for both tags existing.

Also, you misunderstood my alias/implication suggestion.

The goo tag has always been intended to mean only a living goo creature. You want slime if you want disambiguation.

Bumping this as it seems no decision was made on this.

Also noticing that there is actually no way to sort goo creatures by color as we can with fur or scales or describe the color of the slime a character may have on them.I would think being able to sort them would be useful so that certainly is where splitting goo and slime into goo_creature(species) and "color"_goo/goo(general,texture describer) would make sense i believe.

We do currently have Color_body, as well as both color_goo and color_slime which need to be merged together.

color_body would imply that we dont know what the body is made of(body texture) so it doesnt really suit the propose.

and why would you merge slime and goo while goo is still held as a species(when goo_creature would be more clear) rather then a body texture type?

I'm talking about merging those color tags together. Goo would still be a species, and Slime would be a Generic. Color tags would also be generic tags.

hmm... that seems what we already have thru. im talking removing slime, and splitting goo in 2 different tags. honestly dont know why you guy kept slime instead of aliasing it like you did with gel because like gel, slime is one and the same with goo. Fact that people when talking about these characters in comments do use slime and goo interchangeably in describing them...
