Not at all.

earrings are not a furry-specific_piercing

furry-specific_piercing is a piercing is a piercing that you can't get on a non-furry character(i.e. a human)

As an example, pierced wings, pierced tail, etc.

It replaced the older tag furry_bodymod in an attempt to make it a little clearer as to what it was for. If you can come up with something even more transparent, I'm sure it'd be welcome.
