Depends on what you mean by original characters. I have a number of characters that are my creation with entire histories that I use in various roleplaying games.

I've come up with various unique characters for my writings.

Are you asking about people's fursona/ponysona/I-wish-I-was-a? Gotta be specific or I could give you a novel about all mine.

I was seriously expecting a straight up, unedited picture of Drizz't Do'Urden.

I was disappointed. :C

As for myself, I'm pretty much in a similar boat as Nyteshade. Lots of characters I've played in an RPG at one point. Nothing really as far as a fursona goes, other than this vague "a wolf would be cool, I guess."

Dark elf, main character in a series of Forgotten Realms novels, pretty good ones too.
They even did a comic book version.

Is that sarcasm because of the ' between the z and t, or have you actually never heard of Drizzt Do'Urden?

Why would I have ever heard of him? I don't read fantasy novels.

My OC is named Firedash, he's a trigendered pyrofox from the forrest planet.

In a nutshell: Dark Elf from AD&D:Forgotten Realms universe that's unique in his race for being a Ranger. For a while there were a ton of people constantly trying to role up Drizzit clones, while arguing that they were their own idea.

Still get that popping up time-to-time, but nowhere near as much as a decade ago.

More like unique for being not evil.
Unless being a Ranger (with a capital R) automatically makes you non-evil.

Nah, rangers are an any alignment.
Almost every class is really, I think at present Paladin is the only class left with an alignment limitation.
Clerics have them, but they're based on the deity, and there's deities of every alignment so you can be any alignment with clerics too.

Edit: Took a look, turns out Paladin is the same as cleric now, based on deity.
Still some restrictions, druids have to have a neutral somewhere, bards and barbarians can't do lawful, and monks have to be lawful.

My bad. Never actually read the books. My experience was simply that, for about 5 years, any group I joined with would inevitably have someone try to roll up a drow ranger with dual-wielded scimitars. And they always claimed they weren't basing the idea on Drizzt.

Teach me to keep my mouth shut if I haven't actually studied a topic. :P

You were right, story-wise drow aren't rangers.

Scimitars are fairly popular thanks to their high crit range, though I always preferred a rapier personally.
Kukri are better for off hand as well, since they're light weapons.

I like scythes for 2 handed weapons, 4x crit is nice.

Well, If you mean OC in general...
D&D Bear Druid with Bear Pal, Bear Shoots ice lasers I think. Haven't played D&D in about 5 years.

Then I have a Werewolf. He is a knight raised by a young Druidess that felt pity on the kid (and was strong enough control him when he shapeshifted).
Because of reasons (Drafting the story actually) he must fight a king, vampires, other werewolves, Werewolf Hunters (both mercs and religious ones) and other fantasy beasts (i.e trolls, orcs, ogres, etc.).

Then I have a Winged Anthropomorphic Dragon. Background story, Actual Plot, and final aspect pending XD.

I have a draenei shaman that calls herself the Wavesinger. She's not all there any more due to being bashed in the head a few too many times by things larger than a draenei. She doesn't do too well with the poking of things, but she'll heal you whether you want it or not.

Roleplaying Games:
It depends on scenario, but my two favorites are a member of thieve's guild who refuses to use his abilities to steal. He deals solely in information. He'll pick a lock, but not if he knows someone intends to take what's inside without owner's permission. Other is necromancer that is scared of the undead. Their goal is to either overcome their fear through constantly facing it, or to make everyone else more afraid than they are.

Fursona:
I'd use my spirit animal, the swift fox, I think. Probably with camo pants and dogtags in reference to my time in military.
