Upvote post gallery mode

Why would it be useful?
It would be a great quality-of-life addition, much like the current favoriting equivalent.

So I saw that wasn't a thing and I wondered if there was a reason why mass-favoriting is possible but not mass upvoting?

If it's simply not there because it wasn't asked, I see upvoting as a middle-point between being neutral and loving a piece. As mass favoriting (AKA basically saying you love a piece seeing as it is also represented by a heart in the gallery) is currently possible, I do not know why doing the same for upvotes shouldn't be possible.

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?
Index/Post Gallery

I know it has been talked about in this post
https://e621.net/forum/show/216427 (and other posts)
but the upvoting is not yet there. Maybe it's already in development if the favoriting is currently possible? If so, sorry for asking further.

Updated

Fav mode and upvote mode seem equally abusable, given that it's common to search or sort by both favcount and score. So IMO there is definitely a solid argument that they should both have the same status (both privileged only, or both available to all users).

eh, so.. +0.5-0.5j ?

I acknowledged that it was asked before. That just makes me wonder why the voting mode is privileged but not the favoriting.

I wonder how it would really be "abusable" in a negative way, or at least what the "benefit" of abusing it is, for people who actually want to hurt the site.

I mean, it's really just a way to faster vote a lot of pieces up, which is already possible to do if you open each piece in an individual tab and vote them all up, it just takes a lot more time, or down; but usually, when someone is obsessive enough to mass down-vote something, they're usually obsessive enough to do it whether or not a tool is present.

making ability to vote from index page availiable for regular users could easily lead to lots of people going into tags they dont like and mass down vote everything. the issue of people down voting content to hell and back just because they dont like the fetish is already bad enough without making the mass voting so easy. mass favoriting is much harder to use in malicious way.

^^
The question is whether their increased efficiency would == increased impact on the site.
I guess fav is a bit less spammable than score:
both of them are spoofable with planning + alt accounts, but you can more or less only increase favcount, whereas score can be pushed in either direction.

IIRC obsessive people are not the only people who could achieve this kind of result -- pretty sure we have had bunches of people coming in from 4chan / something awful / etc in the past and (as a group) downvoting indiscriminately.
Whether this happens enough to worry about is a question an admin might be able to answer.

There's actually a limit on how many times you can upvote or downvote per hour, so it wouldn't be super exploitable. If you really want to avoid "exploiting," just don't add the downvote option.

I mean, if the easy mass downvoting is what you guys are worried about, I specifically requested for an upvoting mode. So basically what Furrin Gok said. Adding the mode only for upvoting sounds like a safe way to make it easier for people who are there to like what they like without making it easier for people who are there just to downvote everything without consideration and ruin the equilibrium.
