Topic: National Love Your Pet Day - Feb. 20th

Posted under Off Topic

Be sure to show some love to your pets on this oft forgotten National Day.

I got my pooch his favorite treat: A big Bacon Flavored Rawhide Bone. 🥓

I guess I ought to get some cat nip for the cats and I will be throwing in a treat pinkie for my snakes during feeding (frozen of course, I grew up with pet mice and hamsters I could never feed live).

> no more pet

A national day of which nation exactly? Cause over here in the US of A it's presidents day. Maybe don't put your holiday on the same day as another bigger holiday if you want people to remember it.

President's Day isn't on a fixed date. It is the third Monday of February.

o_O never heard of this holiday. and if that's ever the case for a holiday i see mentioned on the internet, i typically regard it with suspicion as to whether or not it's a real holiday or simply something someone came up with on the internet and thinks is a national holiday.

google is showing links but nothing resembling a history or anything that would make me believe this is a real national holiday. :/

edit: there's a National Pet Month mentioned on wikipedia:

"National Pet Month is a celebration of the benefits that pets bring to people's lives - and vice versa. It is observed annually in the United States in May and during the month of April in the United Kingdom."

but that's may, not feb. 20, or april in the UK.

Unfortunately, my pet bird died recently, so this is nothing but sad for me.

Unrelated to that, on a site like this, filled to the brim with feral pornography, "Love Your Pet" certainly has multiple meanings.

Oh, please do be careful.

The rawhides I get are made by hand from a farm I used work on when I was younger. They are made 100% from cow hides of grain fed and hormone/antibiotic free cattle. The bacon flavoring is from actual rendered pork fat from the same farm. My pooch has eaten a half dozen or so from here and never had any issues like choking or sickness, so I am confident in the treats safety.

Believe it or not it is the National Day From the USA. There are actually something like 1200 national days on the Calendar, some more well known (like National Secretary's Day, April 26th this year) than others (like National Battery Day, which just happened on the 18th). As it stands President's Day is a floating holiday that occurs on third Monday of February and not a fixed date like National Love Your Pet Day.

We have an 'Animalsday' here which is on oct 4.
I don't really celebrate such things.
My girl gets a lot of stuff on Valentine's, Christmas, her birthday and just any regular day anyways.
But I'll definitely be treating her alright with love involved.
