The only example I know is Pixiv but I suspect there is more

Like you said, there is Pixiv for the Japanese, they also use Twitter and Tumblr pretty frequently but those aren't full duty galleries. Often times, Japanese artists seem to have their own, personal websites, I suppose they have access to a cheaper system (Perhaps it's actually something like Tumblr but specifically Japanese instead of English).

Pixiv is Japanese site specifically. I wonder if there's anything Korean.

That explains some things up, regarding the other JP site, I heard that is literaly like a timeline the site's layout, a weird format

Though artists have been using pixiv and twitter more since a few years back.
