A sock usually don't have separate spaces for each toe, but "toe_socks" imply "socks". have an unusual characteristic isn't the same that be an antonym (not even close). Besides, "mittens" wiki describe mitten as a type of glove.

Actually, I was the one who typed that entry up. I have citations, though.
Wikipedia says:
Gloves which cover the entire hand or fist but do not have separate finger openings or sheaths are called mittens.
Google and Oxford Dictionaries say:
A glove with two sections, one for the thumb and the other for all four fingers.
